I'm buying a vehicle off here and just wondering can a licenced MVT do their own WOFs? I'm feeling like its a bit dodgy.

Get an independent inspection done for piece of mind. Sounds pretty normal for a dealer that has a workshop within their business.

"in theory" the WOF process is totally independent from the dealership selling the vehicle, I say in theory because for example most franchise dealers have a workshop with WOF licencing. Where it gets a bit shady is going down a level or three to the fringe type dealerships or garages that sell cars. The WOF guy might get leaned on to overlook minor issues. Which is why of course you should ALWAYS get an independent pre purchase inspection carried out before parting with any cash. --or at least more than a holding deposit conditional to a satisfactory inspection. This is of course NOT talking about a dealership following normal industry practice and taking the car to a testing station for a wof. So in your shoes-Get an independent PP inspection and also insist on a testing station WOF. YOU are the customer -if they don't like it then they don't want the sale.
