For a first ski I would be aiming for a sit down. Your budget will dictate a lot of options in terms of what is reliable and what isn't. Generally speaking, something stable and user friendly will be a better option first up. There is no such thing as bullet proof with a jetski but even at the lower end of the budget scale (700cc two stroke) there are plenty of 50mph + skis that are stable and well maintained. From experience I can say if your budget will stretch to a four stroke ski you will spend a LOT less on gas.

We have the new 260RS. Absolutely crazy acceleration! and it is limited to 120km/h! We do lots of water sports, and even deep water starting a skier is easy as.
