Sit down or pole ski? New or 2nd hand?

It depends how the pwc (personal water craft) has been maintained etc.
It can be about asking the pwc mechanic which brand/ model they like fixing.

There are other pwc e.g small jet boats.

Depends on what sort you want supercharged or not I have a seadoo rxt 255 and the power is awesome r even with three of us on it .Cost about 90dollars to fill up and we can entertain our selves all day on the water .so it's a cheap day out really.

For a first ski I would be aiming for a sit down.
Your budget will dictate a lot of options in terms of what is reliable and what isn't.
Generally speaking, something stable and user friendly will be a better option first up. There is no such thing as bullet proof with a jetski but even at the lower end of the budget scale (700cc two stroke) there are plenty of 50mph + skis that are stable and well maintained.
From experience I can say if your budget will stretch to a four stroke ski you will spend a LOT less on gas.

We have the new 260RS.
Absolutely crazy acceleration! and it is limited to 120km/h!
We do lots of water sports, and even deep water starting a skier is easy as.
