I am responding to your comments here in some posts below so as not to hijack another persons thread.

My comments are relating to this post and your response which follows.

Now before I get into the the whole Edix vs Multipla thing. I would like to say that I am quite disappointed with your continued outspoken and unprovoked personal attacks, that seemingly follow any opinion I may have which conflicts with your own. I don't mind healthy debate in the least, however in past you have made it clear that you feel my engaging you in similar manner makes you uncomfortable as you take my comments very personally.

Since that time I have done my best to respect your wishes and not engage you. However, despite my already pointing this out, you continue to "call me out" repeatedly and directly implying that I am lying, not qualified to make basic observations and suggesting that my comments are otherwise not genuine.

This particular example is pretty benign, and wouldn't bother me in itself. However recently, and I put this bluntly, you fabricated a story that I talked someone out of a warranty who then had a major transmission failure which they had to pay for and I somehow owed them money. None of which was true of course.

This behaviour in my opinion is not only unfair, but it is impacting on my enjoyment of this message-board. I think it's also likely affecting you in a negative manner, as many if not most people on here are aware you are an automotive professional and what your business is. I can't comment for others but personally I wouldn't want to engage in business with someone who behaves as such on a public forum.

Now, with regard to the Multipla vs Edix. I won't be bothering to post pictures or go in to detail (because if anyone is really interested they can soon see exactly what I am talking about by pulling up some pictures on google images).

The Edix does a wonderful job of achieving a mainstream look while retaining some of the advantages of the 3 + 3 passenger arrangement, it is also available with an automatic transmission, something that is pretty much impossible to get with the Multipla. However, I stand by my comments that compared to the Multipla it has severely sacrificed it's abilities as a true "Multipurpose" vehicle (hence where the name "Multipla" comes from.)

For starters, all seats are not full size (anyone can see this in the pictures straight away).

It doesn't have a big flat wide van style rear door, it has a lip and the loading width is compromised at the rear as well.

It doesn't have a flat floor like the Multipla, the seats are not removable (as far as I am aware) they only fold. It's also lower and skinnier, interior space is compromised not only by the seat issue previously mentioned but also the sloping rear screen and general cabin design. The Edix also does not have the wrap around glass that gives the Multpla the last word in vision and manoeuvrability.

I have used Multipla's as tradesman's work vehicles and carried items like car engines and large motor scooters with ease. Things that would either be impossible or difficult to do with the Edix.

The difference between the two vehicles is not subtle, these are quite serious limitations.

Now, if someone just wants a mainstream looking vehicle to take the kids to school that retains good boot space while all the seats are occupied, the Edix is a great option. However, I don't see why we would want to pretend that it is the true appliance swallowing, multi purpose workhorse that the Multipla is.

Anyone who has seen both cars in pictures, let alone the flesh should be able to see that straight away.

Jazz, do we have to ask you again- have you forgotten to take your meds again?

kazbanz, Jul 23, 3:34pm
3 post diatribe yet did NOT answer the question asked in the post.
HAVE YOU owned or even driven a Honda Edix?
Or are you passing judgement based on pictures on the internet?
And to be clear yes I have and yes I have Driven and owned. Both in the case of the Edix and multipla. So Im NOT dragging info from google, wiki or whatever other internet information station is flavour of the month.

kazbanz, Jul 23, 3:38pm
On the subject of warranty-You DID strongly recommend a person not to take a MBI on a VW. The transmission DID have a major mechanical failure. My comment was the same as several others on here, unless you are personally prepared to put money where mouth is then don't make suggestions that stand a very very good chance of costing innocent people a large sum of money. In this case they did.

thejazzpianoma, Jul 23, 3:40pm
Person had a warranty, it didn't have a transmission fault, that was a misdiagnosis. The thread went all silly with trolling so I ended up helping them off-line for the last part. I did come back and fill people in on what happened though.

Have you ever considered that every time you do sell a warranty, you HAVE cost someone a lot of money that they may not get back? There is an element of chanceboth ways, and to try and bully people out of reading and considering the fine print for themselves is appalling in my opinion.

Probably grumpy because Napier NW won best pie award (o:

thejazzpianoma, Jul 23, 3:48pm
There you go again, with this absurd nonsense of trying to pretend I am somehow not qualified to have a valid opinion and that only car dealers or those that agree with your opinion are somehow "qualified".

How could you have not noticed the flat floor, removable seats, all round glass, larger load space etc when you "owned" your Multipla? I noticed these things before I even opened the door!

I haven't owned an Edix, but I have inspected them in person. And yes the middle seats had not magically grown bigger in person, they are smaller than the others, just like in the pictures.

Likewise, how is owning one going to change the access at the back, the visibility or the height and space inside?

There is absolutely zero logic in what you are saying. A child should understand that owning a car does not change these things, it might be different if we were talking about reliability, or how it performs on hills. However those are not things we were discussing.

I find it so very strange that you can be so incredibly illogical, yet people come along and accuse me of being "off my pills".

some people have to much time on their hands

timmo1, Jul 23, 7:15pm
too* hahaha

henderson_guy, Jul 23, 7:27pm
Jazz, if you're not enjoying the boards, then maybe it's time you took a break. Clearly they're angrying up your blood.

tgray, Jul 23, 7:41pm
I read all this and simply don't get it.
Two people have a different opinion and two people are free to express theirs on this message board.
People can make up their own mind as to what they take from it.
No need to get personal. This is what the message boards are for - a free exchange of information.
No one owes anyone an apology and we should feel free to post what we feel, without anyone getting upset.
I have the utmost respect for both posters. Why can't we all just respect each others opinions without getting too personal?
Kaz is a well respected and highly experienced car dealer with a wealth of knowledge and Jazz has a lot to offer also especially when it comes to Euros. Let's just enjoy and learn from them both.
OK, that's my 2 cents worth.

thejazzpianoma, Jul 23, 8:00pm
Thanks tgrey, you are quite right. I have been doing my best to respect Kaz and just leave him be, shame is he just can't seem to resist having a bite at me. Which isn't very fair when get gets upset if I bite back.

Will do my best just to move on and hopefully Kaz will do the same. Funny thing is, as much as he annoys me at times, I do worry for him and his reputation when we have these spat's. I am just a sandwich maker with no professional reputation at stake here.

Anyhow, that's the last word on it from me. Will leave it be now.

sr2, Jul 23, 10:07pm
Well said mate, I couldn't agree more.

andrewph, Jul 23, 10:55pm
Why look at either one when you can buy an ipsum or a wish.

cagivachick1, Jul 24, 5:24am
you are a few sandwiches short though eh?

gedo1, Jul 24, 6:25pm
Hmmm. I have never seen Kaz start a particular thread on here (may have happened but I have never seen it) simply to attack one other person's opinion. What does that indicate about this thread, then? There have been numerous times that I have read others' posts and have then observed certain individuals reach in and start the thread heading in a totally different direction from the information sought by the OP. Just as a (non-existent) example. when an OP asks an opinion about, say, a1990 toyata starlet compared with a 1990 Mitsubishi Colt. Lo and behold someone will leap in and say they should even consider either one and should look at a Polo. That's not what the poster asked about and it just leads to confusion and noticeably the poster disappearing. Remember I have only made up a theoretical post.

gedo1, Jul 24, 6:29pm
Incidentally I wouldn't mind knowing what Kaz's business was and where it is located as I would very definitely visit if I were looking for a vehicle. His professionalism shows up in his posts on this MB and I have never seen any self serving events in any of his responses etc. Well done Kaz.

msigg, Jul 24, 7:01pm
Well said gedo1, Kazbanz does know alot about the vehicles in New Zealand and their Idiosyncrasies, he is always well meaning and will help out anyone. Pity this board has to endure petty comebacks all the time.
I'm sure Jazz has just gone off the rails for a minute, All will be well soon.

bwg11, Jul 24, 7:14pm
I'd been a "car enthusiast" for many years but learnt more during 10 years in "the trade" than any other time. You find out how hard it is to wholesale unpopular trades, which cars are problematic, and the makes and models which just walk out the door and you never see again.

The "armchair warriors" just don't have a clue when compared to Kazbanz and the others actively engaged in the trade.

EDIT: Walk out the door NOT "wail" !

butterfly05, Jul 24, 8:15pm
Its way past time Jazz moved on from this board or started taking the meds he clearly needs. What an utter load of garbage. And the cheek of the whole thing is unbelievable. well not really.

pauloc, Jul 24, 8:51pm
Well put

secca2, Jul 25, 8:16pm
You idiot!

pandai, Dec 31, 11:08am
This topic is a bit below the belt. For various reasons. Most of all the tirade against another poster who you singled out and who did not deserve it.

^ Now that is a paradox.
