he,s brought an afterburner hei dissy with two wire red / black connection .
this is old dissy with 4 wires .

Those wires might be for ignition pickup sensors that feed signals to an ECU. In which case the ECU would be controlling the amount of ignition advance, and probably doing emissions related stuff as well. A circuit diagram will tell you straight away.
