would anyone know of a product that is heat resistant, dries clear, and will fill the crack on the glass. The glass doesn't appear to have cracked right through. New unit is $300 so am looking for an economical repair.

You should be able to get a SH one. Go and see your Panelbeater and donate some money to IAG. All they need is your rego # and that will get the correct one.
I have glued one with clear silicon, and then applied stone guard over the top. Had a spare one and only fitted it when the mechanic finally baulked for a WOF. Used to put stone guard on all my cars spots when I was driving them like Land Rovers, but couldn't see the sense in risking a good one.
Yes looked at that product but I am told a fog light creates a lot of heat, and Novus said their windscreen sealant is designed for laminated screens only.

If my insurer covered headlamps I would be laughing, but they won't. About time AA got their policies up to date, lol.

Had some stone damage to a foglight that sorta punched a cone-shaped piece of glass out and into the light fixture; WOF fail. Took lamp apart and siliconed the cone back into the glass and it's passed heaps of WOFs since.

Same. Punched a hole in the fog lamp on my Landrover.
I carefully glued it up, with a windscreen repair glue I got from Super-Cheap. It does warn that it should not be exposed to heat, but fog lamps are only on for 2 mins a year at WOF time.
Product was Rain-X windscreen repair kit.

Isn't it only a wof fail if the repair leaks?

Take both fog lamps out and pass wof?
