Just writing this and if anyone can give an advise would be appriciated

Had a car accident last week.Pretty much insurance job.Panel beater sorted Just the engine might need adjusting the is pretty much organize but BUT the water pump need replacing they say and that is the problem.Insurance not covering it.

my question:

Can they tell if it leaking a long time or from the accident
They are doing the radiator etc. but they say my water pump is leaking for a long time. I know I would have noticed it.How can I contest it? If I can.

It may help those still in the trade if you supply make and model. You can normally tell from the leak trail from the pump if it is an old or recent (no trail) leak.

Signs of impact damage to the pulley or the pump itself would prove the point I'd have thought.

If its been leaking for a while there will be a brown track line where its been leaking

Brown? Some people maintain their cars so the track line will be whatever colour the antifreeze is.

You are getting all other new parts, just pay $100 and move on

Unless there is a cam belt job invloved will be much more expensive than $100.00
