are going less than the speed limit and do not wish to pass! That seems simple enough. Sick of these self righteous idiots who feel it is their right to block up a flowing lane with little regard for other drivers.

the problem is you can overtake on the left or right as long as it is save to do so.

+1,000,000 ! Yup, they drive me crazy. Inconsiderate, Incompetent or both :-)

This problem's only between Bombay and Silverdale the rest of us are normal.

Nope, followed a police car staying in outside land with no cats in front all way on Wakatu drive- a two lane little motorway coming into Nelson.
Interesting thing is they could use the must keep left rule surely? They use it to book even tiny crosses of white lines so surely they can go router land huggers?
lookoutas,

Had to pass 3 vehicles on the inside today, while travelling home from The Big Smoke (Awsome Eagles concert) Left Auck about 3pm. The north bound traffic was banked up back to the Bombay's. Never seen so much traffic on the roads.

and if both opposing vehicles are both "a tiny way over " the center line guess what happens at 2 x 100kmph.

discussed on a weekly basis and they are the inconsiderate self appointed police officers that have had their manliness removed by surgery

Yea cops should try and stick to the road rather than the outside land ay! What a shocker! Guess he was just very lucky that there were no cats in front of him or he would have had a lot of blood on his hands!
Sorry just could not help myself :)

There is one way to get them to pull to the left lane. Drive a pick up truck. With a bull bar. And Tailgate them. With headlights on. It really works.
Otherwise, if you must drive a standard family sedan, just be a good little sheep.

We were in the middle of that after being held up earlier from Waihi to Ngatea by a rolling blockage in one of those dumb little biscuit box jappies with lawnmower wheels followed be a bunch of no balls zombies who wouldn't pass the mong who was dropping down to 65 KPH at some points. SH2 can be utter torture sometimes.

If there is more than one marked lane it is perfectly legal to pass on the left, I can't see the problem?
extrayda,
Mar 17, 5:20pm
It's polite to keep left unless passing. I do it every day, pass pull in etc. Or often just sit in the left lane and pass all of the numpties sitting in the passing lane at 95kph. It's possible they are so intimidated by my Estima that they can't focus on their driving I suppose.

too much tunnel vision guys , step back and take a few breaths, if you can pass them in the left lane what is your problem? As far as the suggestion about the tow truck- i don't care when people tailgate me- their problem if anything happens.

Those clowns, when all lanes are full, who tailgate with the intention of forcing the other driver to move into the already full left lane have "issues" and need see a psychologist. Moving left to let faster traffic pass is a given - but when all lanes are full it is a matter of sucking it up like everybody else.
tamarillo,
Mar 18, 2:29pm
Well yes of course, but using that logic one can never overtake ever. Instead we are allowed to use intelligence. they use the keep left rule to make something illegal that isn't in most places including UK where our laws came from.

Don't let the dogs out.
tamarillo,

Well law says keep left for a start. Passing on inside is just not good safe practice, which is why it's usually illegal worldwide.

And SHAME ON YOU for reading the TradeMe motoring forum while you're driving.

It's perfectly legal (and safe) in NZ, give it a try and you'll find the sky wont fall on your head after all.
pf,
Mar 18, 8:33pm
not sure why there are so many people who continue to believe you can't pass on the left . unless the majority of drivers on the road are now imports .

Yep, Part of my safety net thinking is that I drive rough-ish & older vehicles so that they think I probably don't have insurance which in turn means that they won't want to be denting their vehicle by bunting mine.
ALL our vehicles carry full insurance regardless of condition & are all legal
fiatracer,

exactly the same as 1x100km/h into a wall, powerpole or similar, actually
mrfxit,
Apr 25, 2:04am
Yep 1 x 100kph + unmovable wall = 100kph hit 2 x 100kph head on = 100kph hit
Myth Busters proved it a few years ago on a crash test site (mph)
2 x 100kph head on does NOT equal a 200kph hit Each car in a head on smash receives an equal force share of both cars impact speed.
Where it gets ugly & complicated is with different vehicles at differing speeds at different offsets from center
