Was told because ya old car is, well old, and therefore very dangerous, it will cost even more than what it would if it was a modern car to license. i:e, new car gets cheaper, old cars get more expensive. True, false or maybe?

Letting incompetent politicians and bureaucrats near the subject of road safety is also dangerous, as is getting out of bed in the morning. But no vintage licensing is decreasing along with all the others, albeit by a smaller amount. It is going down to about $92pa.

Last time I checked, it was going to be only marginally cheaper than it currently is for 40+yo, however I just went to re-read the information here http://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/registration-licensing/vehicle-licensing-reform.html and the link in green at the bottom right "changes to vehicle licensing fees in 2015" no longer works. So it makes me wonder about what is actually going to happen.

Opposite, over 40 yrs old rego is much cheaper automatically.
I see that indeed they will go down further. I guess that will make a few happy. No MC drop though.

Probably because there is no such thing as classic registration, its either in the over 40yo vintage category or its not.

Thanks for clarifying, I have always thought Veterans are pre WW1 cars, Vintage are pre 1930 and classics are over 40. But am happy that ACC are including all 40+yo in the same category for fees.

Whats DSC ?

That is generally accepted other than adding Edwardian, pre 1900. However, Classic is a meaningless term or alternatively, applied willy-nilly to anything over a certain age - which varies from about 20 years to 40+ depending on who is calling the shots!

DSC = Dynamic Stability Control
