Put my Mitzi Pajero (4M40) in for new glow plug timer and after timer. Rang to see how it was going and the mechanic couldn't get the after glow to work so he contacted the source who told him after glow won't work while the engine is running. This sounds a little suspicious to me. Do any of you diesel mechanics or auto sparkies know about this? I totally trust my mechanic so don't believe he's trying to fob me off. Love to hear your views.

After glow works after engine has started only. Maybe he hasn't connected the start wire for the glow controller 4m40 needs afterglow otherwise they cough sputter and smoke excessively

Yes, thats what I thought too. Maybe my mechanic misunderstood the supplier. I have been away for a few days so I'll go and see him in the morning.

dont you just adjust the time it glows for the light on dash is bulls anyhow its not the time the glowing is on its just a visual to tell the driver how long befor he can crank it . them glowplug things wont know the engine is running already.
