I need a heater core replaced in a 2001 Mitsi Lancer, been quoted some stupid prices. Anyone able to offer a better suggestion Auckland based

pretty labour intensive job on a lot of later cars,maybe post a quote and let people say ya or na. ball park 2 days to do it. $1400 plus gst. then the price of the core $500 ? plus antifreeze$50 . recharge aircon $180 maybe. soon mounts up.

prices are not silly as most of the time the whole dash has to come out to replace the heater core. it must be the first thing they put in when assembling cars. a right pain to replace

Yes mate, you could also put a 2000ohc into it in about two hours with a few beers on the way. It would only cost about $300.00.

For an 01 Lancer the cost of repair has got to be getting close to 1/4 or possibly even half the value of car Is it economical to fix Or better to rug up with extra jackets

Back in the day you would cut the hose off and jam a bolt in the hose and put a hose clip around it. cost. less then $1.

No doubt these days there will be a sensor in there someplace that would pick that repair up and disable the entire car for you.
