i whached a german docu last night about it, everyone knows its done its called legal loop holes. and here is how it works electric hybrid emissions are tested under absolute never ever possible conditions also they assume you recharge your hybrid every 21km , so in a labs emission test algorythm they recharge it every 21km so its emissions from the gasoline engine is real low because it hardly ever on. this is also how fuelconsumptions are calculated in labs at constant slow speed with nothing on the car remooved outside mirrors taped off gaps in penals and all oficially allowed under these knowen loop holes that existed since ever and the automotive industry and oil lobby is interested to keep these loop hole test for the latest round of emissions. So essentially its all just bullcrap and hoogwash the emission and fuelconsumption figures with the tons of legal loop holes They are also not intersted to make electric cars viable , its not about the inviroment and other bull its to feed you all some crap to keep the oil multis happy as they want cars to use not less fuel and them hybrids use more fuel then a normal non hybrid of the same car.
Don't forget that the Germans also contract out so-called "independent" testing services to run their emissions tests. If you want the lucrative contracts, then you'll want to be sure you keep the customer happy. The whole thing is a scam. VW probably did the world a favour by drawing attention to it. Even if emission limits need to be increased for practical reasons, but at least tested properly, it would be better than what we've got now.

the real truth is the oil in the ground is how co 2 is stored and it dont matter how we burn it if you burn it you put it back in to the atmosthere. So if we really wanted cliamte change to stop then no more of it could be burned for the next 10+ years starting now no aircraft fly nothing no more. but hey then the oil multis and government thugs wont get richer if we would really do what it takes to reduce climate change. if airoplains are so clean with keroseen why dont we all just drive with kerosen? You can soon see how huge of a scam the whole thing is and its all about money and power never about the enviroment , that is just the hoogwash the thugs feed you.

It would be lovely if we had the technology and availability to drive cars that grow flowers and provide rain drops to nourish the earth, but until there is a viable alternative, screwing down manufacturers to reach unattainable goals using fossil fuels then we too are getting hurt, by buying new vehicles that are so utterly complex that they are unreliable and have no longevity. How environmentally friendly is it to need to upgrade cars more often due to them no longer being economically viable to maintain in such a short amount of time or low mileage?

if you look at the figures 8% less real lower emissions then a 1990s car is emitted by a 2015 car and the fuelconsumption is the same or higher . would they just work on lower fuelconsumption , logic tells you that this also= less emissions over the live span of a car. But hey we cant have that the oil multis want to sell more not less oil at higher and higher prices for more and more profit. Not have cars use less of there oil . and gst from higher prices= also more when you need to buy more of it to burn so there fake emissions test in the labs meet there fake targets.

There was a long article praising the advent of electric cars in a recent issue of a weekly non-motoring magazine, with great proclamations about the lack of maintenance needed, how cheap they are to run, and how clean and green they are with their non-existent emissions. But nowhere was there any mention of battery life, the cost of replacement when the original battery finally dies, or what is involved in the manufacture of these batteries. Correct me if I am wrong but I understand that some rare, expensive and toxic materials are involved.

^^^BUtt at least the batteries can be easily recycled . We should opt for fuel cell cars & provide liquid hydrogen filling stations . plenty of surplus hydro energy available to make it & if Tiwai point smelter went there would be megawatts more . they have the range & performance , stop pissing around with hybrid BS & get on with true electric cars

so you will be happy riding in a car with a high pressure container of flammable gas?

Like thousands of LPG vehicles? Yes.

The stumbling block with storing hydrogen is that unlike LPG it will not liquefy easily when compressed. To compound the problem being so high up on the periodic table (one proton and one electron - remember your 3rd form physics?) it's very sneaky stuff. Try filling a cylinder up with it and it will just leak through the walls!

do you not understand high pressure? lpg is low pressure it boils to a gas which is then used.hydrogen is stored at high pressure as compressed gas.

I think the space shuttle burns it

Surely a simulated cycle on a rolling road is the only way they can do this. As soon as its driven outside too many other variables enter the equation to get accurate comparative data. Maybe that's all it should be, maybe a rating out of 100 rather than a fuel consumption figure would remove the unrealistic expectation that an owner might acheive the same consumption. It really is simply figure to compare one car against another in my mind.
Re the accusation that they tape up openings and remove mirrors etc. why would they do that if car is stationary on a rolling road? Have read this accusation being strongly denied anyway.
