on a 2002 VW Passat B5.5 . Was quoted around the $150, is this correct? Im asking as I have sold the car in question but the price reduced for new owner to get sorted themselves and I dont want to screw them. Thanks.

Well that's probably a bit light, if doing yourself then maybe ,add $100 for labour,

The tie rod (bought of here are only $70 for the pair) would it be done in an hour by a mechanic if it went to plan?

needs a wheel alignement also so 150 would be cheap with part fitted and aligned to spec

Ok - wheel alignment was never mentioned by mechanic. Learn something new every day dont you.

well if they dont the tyre will wear make sure you tell the client that. there is no way you ever get it right when you fit another rod
