didn't think we would get it back, have been to Coffs Harbour twice with the rally. . should never have let it go

socram, May 15, 3:27pm
$$$$ again Twink. Morrie Chandler hasn't ruled it out for the future, but there isn't enough sponsorship in yet.

rctr, May 15, 3:43pm
I though was back again next year and annually for next 5

rctr, May 15, 3:47pm
http://www.rallynz.org.nz/?p=244
Sorry not annually yet but from reading that it is definitely here next year but not sure where hopefully returns to traditional roads around northland

twink19, May 15, 3:52pm
It will not be here next year, Coffs again, was supposed to be 3 in Aus and 3 here. to many others wanting to host it.

mrgts4, May 15, 4:01pm
Yea, I thought we did a deal with Aussie, 3 years there then 3 years here. It helps with sponsorship. I also heard some of our organisers went over there to help them with it. Im gutted, its been so long now. A group of us from wellington have been to every one since 1998.

twink19, May 15, 4:14pm
I go every year to scrutineer, get my info from CAMS

brapbrap8, May 15, 4:42pm
One of the perks of living way, way out in the sticks on crappy roads where I live is I can watch the WRC without leaving home.

Is it a $10million fee that WRC organisers have to stump up to host a round of the WRC?
http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/sport/273604/rally-nz-2016-unlikely

NZ should innovate its own event - enough old rally cars in NZ to have a historic world rally championship event. Pre 1982 cars, no 4wd and modern 2wd section. like the Silver Fern.(NZ class - 2k rally cars)
There are other classic Morocco, Classic Safari and classic European events.

Easy if gubberment stop giving millions towards a sail boat in the hope there will be a kickback a proposal could be put in and possibly for another round of v8sc

serf407, May 15, 5:20pm
It might be preferable to try and host a round of the Formula E championship and fly the drivers to Queenstown to film the promo events - bungy jumping, playing golf at 'The Hills', etc before the circuit race etc.

There was a crash at the end of the first Formula E race that was nearly very serious, I would guess the Formula E drivers would prefer proper circuits.

i would definitly stand in a muddy paddock in the rain to watch Lancia Stratos/037 Audi quattro etc go flyin past.

twink19, May 16, 6:05pm
and when it come here it will be based in Tauranga. not Aucklend

serf407, May 16, 6:34pm
The Aussies are getting back into rallycross. It would be a bit expensive to bring cars from Europe for one Superlites RX round in Aus.
Perhaps NZ could host a round at the same time at HD in a similar manner that the Superbikes were run at Phillip Island and at Manfeild a week later.

How about a NZ 2K rallycross class and put some knobbly tyres on the Ssangyong utes, utvs, atvs, offroaders for support classes?

serf407, May 17, 7:13am
There is the European historic rally championship.
Is there a place for an International historic rally championship?
NZ as a quaifying round.

Three year rotation - Western Australia- old Rally Australia, Eastern Australia - old Castrol Rally or Southern Cross Rally routes (Canberra/ Port Macquarie) and Rally NZ - Rotorua base with Motu and Gisborne rally roads.

elect70, May 17, 10:53am
Ive watched a few , reckon the older stuff we run in our domestic rallys are more exiciting to watch .

serf407, May 18, 6:22am
An international truck trial round
https://youtu.be/PZZp6gnL9tU or Formula Offroad https://youtu.be/ulh1ktCsc1Y

fordcrzy, May 18, 3:39pm
YUSSSSSSSSSS! bring it on! real rallying is south of the bombays. the RNZ was best when it went down through tokoroa/rotorua/ motu areas. this FIA thing of having nicely conveinient stages all around a center point is crap. theyll be running it on astro turf tracks next. rallying is dirty remote roadside fixups. not champagne in a corperate box

twink19, May 18, 4:16pm
as said will be in Tauranga. good accommodation and wont have to deal with Len Brown

fordcrzy, May 18, 4:18pm
must remember to keep some leave up my sleeve for next year

serf407, May 18, 5:31pm
Probably the classic NZ rally video -1984 Audi, Lancia, Nissan and Toyota and Subaru (with drum brakes)
https://youtu.be/8msayXFfvqc
Madame Bagard would be excluded &/or fined these days for not wearing her seat belts during a touring stage.
Plenty to spot - Zetor sign, Europa sign etc

twink19, May 18, 5:56pm
next year is Coffs Harbour, see you there

socram, May 20, 7:59am
Wasn't there something on the radio this morning about funding? Sorry, I only caught the tail end of it.

newtec1, May 20, 6:53pm
Only 1998, i have followed since 1971.

serf407, May 21, 6:03am
A S-box rally is planned for NZ and likely to happen before another wrc is held here. http://www.s**tboxrally.com.au/
