Professional driver .yeah right

purplegoat, Oct 22, 4:27pm
Just saw this on stuff and took a look at some of the clips including his YouTube collection . Sure there's some dopey driving but fark this turkey sure as hell ain't no professional driver.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/news/73222548/Truck-driver-posts-dash-cam-footage-of-near-misses-in-Mackenzie?cid=app-iPad

A professional driver will make allowances for the muppets on the road but this turkey on several occasions seems to make no effort to button off at the 1st sign of something happening ahead . He seems to delight in getting as close as possible and then using his big manly airhorns
Not condoning the muppet behaviour seen in some of the clips but fark this so called professional driver needs a serious attitude adjustment

I can tell you mate what I see here is extreme dangerous driving. I used to own a B Train and saw this sort of behaviour . Drivers used to overtake the unit around blind corners with no hope of seeing what is coming. Only luck saved them and I am thank full I gave the line haul away. You cant stop a truck and trailer on a small coin.

Thick, angry truck driver in some clips. I could be wrong, but I thought the guy on the mobility scooter has every right to be in a cycle lane

i can understand the agro behavior, the truckies must deal with all sorts of crap. but then again they are meant to be professional, dealing with idiots is part of the job. they shouldn't be retaliating.

saw one the other day just south of warkworth, a car pull out of a side road inbetween a car and the truck that was following it !

Mobility scooter is allowed in the bicycle lane.

Not keeping your cool is dangerous for driving.

purplegoat, Oct 22, 6:16pm
not sure on the legality of the old fella on his scooter but fark a professional driver would have just eased off and given the guy some space , but no the numpty in the BIG truck has to blow past mouthing off

purplegoat, Oct 22, 6:19pm
i didn'nt see any where it was blatant retaliating but sure was a few where he clearly did or should have seen what was developing ahead but made no attempt to back off and give them some space. Seems to me hes a driver looking for muppets just to prove how macho he is as he blasts his horn

Things happen very quickly on the road and all a truck driver can do is give the idiot a blast. No truck driver is going to risk a million dollar unit . I think your argument is totally wrong. Have a look at Brutal Truck Crashes U Tube Russia. Be grateful for the skills our drivers have.

purplegoat--Id suggest having a rewatch of the clip
1)Criver pulls out in front of him from a stop sighn -he had slowed or would have hit the idiot.
2) idiot blocking half a lane in van facing him. The evasive action oncoming traffic took and the fact he stopped says he slowed pretty rapidly.
3) Broken yellow line ,nowhere to stop and car driver couldn't make up their mind. all over the road and slowed to a stop
4) insane overtake -oncoming big rig and overtaking another rig.
5) Truck in front pulls out directly in front of an overtaking car forcing evasive action.;
Only once did I hear him get agro

The engine brakes take out the jabbing from uneven brakes on multi axles units. the driver don't want to be hitting the brakes hard. The worst thing that can happen is some idiot overtakes and then decides to slow up in front of the truck. Talk to me before you rush into print. goat. cheers

I slowed down to 70 k going through Maramarua a while back and was overtaken by a car transporter . I ended up off the road as the transporter cut me off. I see a bit of mad driving by truck drivers. I reported this incident to the police but the company told me they would not be able to identify the unit due to the large number of trucks they have.If I had the cam running I would have got him sacked.

And there are some great professional drivers too. Twice in the last week on Dyers Pass (Banks Peninsula, steep, narrow and no passing bays) I have caught up to Allied Concrete trucks. In both cases the drivers moved left and indicated a left turn as soon as an overtaking opportunity occurred. Well Done Allied. I mention this because it is so unusual and appreciated.

EDIT: Just Spelling

Gone a little overboard haven't you? He has made allowances for the muppets because he didn't hit any where he clearly could have just plowed into them. I don't know why you are so 'anti' the truck driver, I can't see any reason to be.

kazbanz, Oct 23, 1:31pm
I think the truckies comment was out of context. hardly something you see every day- mobscooter on the road.

Thanks for this post.
Its good to see what professional drivers have to put up with.
I agree with the Truck driver, they can see so much more than everyone else and can see that something's going to unfold in front of them even before it starts happening.

And, if following at truck at night, make sure your headlights are not on full beam.

Thanks again, was very funny, but dangerous.
