Buying and selling.online forms Q

Hi all
I'm selling my car and I know that we used to have to get a form to fill in from post office. It appears you can do this online now. but my issue is,You used to go wit new owner to watch them complete the form and pay the $9 fee to ensure they DID change it. if they don't you're liable for any tickets etc the get as you are technically the reg owner.
So if I do the form online. and I do the form online (today as it sells). how do I get a receipt?
Anyone know?
I thought I could pay the $9 on my visa and we could use my iPhone and that would ensure it was done.
Any ideas if this would be best or if you get an email receipt of transfer?
Thanks

the buyer needs to put it in his name normally the buyer pays the change over.
But! i would recommend you pay it they do need a current NZ driver licens for doing it online you if they charge you your credit card then you know it was done and have proof enough. you can then still fill in your form but its not required.
As this car registerd owner it is called its not whom owns the car , this is who is registered to the numberplates on the car as to where they send fees and fines to, that is the whole thing behind it .

if they are a forgein driver you have to go to the post AA etc with them and make sure its done before you hand over keys.
they require a license expiry date to change owner with forgein driver license , so if there is no expiry date like it is on for example on a swiss driver license because it never expires , then you need the passport to change over or a international driver license they have expiry dates .

Now back to selling
Consumer guarantees act apply to everyone as far as i recall.
So you have to sell it as not a dealer and state the car is sold with no warranty and you are contracting out of the consumer guarantees act sold as it is on the day of sale Dealers cant contract out of consumer guarantee act privet sellers can Hope i got that correct who know otherwise we have 20 posts flamming how wrong i am lol
i see you already done that as is where it is.

princess 63 how I do it is that the buyer fronts up with confirmation C opf O IS completed.- What you get from the Post office or testing station is a licence lable with confirmation of C of O printed on it.
OR the new owner completes change of ownership online and I have e mailed confirmation.
OR --I do it myself and they pay me an extra $9.00
BUT what ever way its done the new owner does not take the vehicle until
I have proof of completed C of O

No body can contract out of the CGA. But it does not apply to a private sale where the seller is not in trade. Note that "In Trade" refers to reality, and is where the seller profits from selling that type of goods.

A person In Trade can sell a defective product and not be liable for the defect as long as it is clearly stated prior to the sale. And a buyer does not have a case under the CGA for a defect where a reasonable person would expect that defect, for example the engine blew up at 350,000 Kms.
