Do these mods need a cert plate for WOF ?

pf, Apr 26, 6:06pm
rear 4 linked plus watts linkage . discs fitted to rear end . engine set back with crossmember modified . 5 spd gearbox instead of 4 spd .

pf, Apr 26, 6:16pm
car has been issued WOF and been competing in MNZ events without cert plate for last 2 years .

franc123, Apr 26, 6:25pm
It most certainly does.

aj254, Apr 26, 6:26pm
How old is this machine? If it was modified before around 1990 it should have a declaration certificate instead. Or the cert plate could be in the spare tyre well in the boot.

snoopy221, Apr 26, 6:29pm
Ecky?

snoopy221, Apr 26, 6:44pm
To me as someone who has spent years issuing warrants any club car with full harnesses and MANZ card competing-is in grey areas re regs.
Especially when it comes to circuit changes to suspension and weight balancing

pf, Apr 26, 6:46pm
rally car .

snoopy221, Apr 26, 6:49pm
crossmember modified .
Again presumption is rear cross g/box mount-again-grey area re regs as engine has not changed
weight balance 5 speed-circuit change.
Warrant issuer signing their name-is-authourised to issue and sign.
If they decide to pass

snoopy221, Apr 26, 6:51pm

So needs a LVV Authority Card

pico42, Apr 27, 9:01am
I would say yes, cert needed for the first three.
But I don't know whether it being a circuit car there is some sort of all encompassing dispensation or authority card.

kazbanz, Apr 27, 9:08am
Its a definite yes from me. What happens on the racetrack is up to race official-on the road is a different story.

This whole compliance crap can never work properly, as there is never going to be a human who knows everything - even tho some might think they do.

I viewed an award winning car recently, and there were three issues that that I wouldn't agree to, or do to a car.
One of those were changes to the structural integrity, in order to strengthen certain parts so another could be discarded.
Vehicles are built to bend/crumple in certain places. Strengthening something in one direction, which I already know to be extremely strong - just to get rid of another intruding structural feature, is not my idea of being clever.

What we now have is a zone between the front and the wheels that will almost crumple as it should, then a section between the wheels and the A pillar that is now much stronger than it was designed, hence the dash will now be more likely to finish up around the front seated occupants earoles.

Obviously, the person who complied this car, has no idea at all.
