Pit stop

wind.turbine, Apr 16, 7:41pm
ok so had pads replaced and disks skimmed by pitstop, shortly after doing this they started squealing

Took it back yesterday and they think that the calipers were not fully returning so the pads were always touching the disks.
They replaced pads for free and said that they are not sure exactly but think the seals kits in the calipers need doing as one had a split so that was fine, got them to do that.

then turns out one piston had pitted out so replaced that.
so all in all spent another $250 on it all

All good apart from this morning when I checking fluids I had brake fluid run down the brake booster and had peeled all the paint.

Saw the guy hosing it when they finished so I assumed he spelt some but must not have cleaned it properly.

have checked to make sure its not leaking and it does not appear to be but the master cylinder is still wet with fluid.

any advice?
not really to amused about the paint damage

it is a 2007 3.2L Triton

I would be asking to have the paint fixed.
I had a car valet knock an air freshener off the aircon vent in one of my cars which stripped the paint off the centre console, they fixed it at their own cost.

Clean as much of the area as you can with meths and allow to dry.

Check again for leaks after a day or so.

Mcyl isn't overfull by any chance?

Bit confusing in the grammar dept there. You said you had brake fluid run out, do you mean you overfilled it? Or that it had been overflowing so it was clearly visible? If the latter clean it up as suggested and find another workshop pronto, that's an amateur mistake even I havent made yet!

ok i got a few questions i want answered first
1 how long do you own this vehicle ?
2 if you own it longer then 2 years how often did you get the brake fluid exchanged?
i dont want to comment on midas pitstop unless i know facts as something dont adds up from the information you supply so far.

yet they advertize on the radio all the time that they a brake specialists

wind.turbine, Apr 17, 9:42am
1 nearly a year, bought it off my parents and they owned it since new

2 Brake fluid have been changed 8000km ago when it got a total fluid replacement done at 200'000km.

All fluids have been changed as per what the dealer recommends, and has always been serviced at mitsi

The MS seems to be dry now to maybe they over filled it?
do they normal seep out around the lid if over filled?

They claim to be brake specialists.
You paid them do do some brake work.
You now have brake fluid inspired paint damage.

Very simple in my view. It's their problem, and they need to put it right.

Umm lets see, master cyl overflowed, pads just replaced, brakes squealing allegedly because of poor caliper return? Someones pushed them pistons back and not sucked out the displaced fluid to compensate when the pad change was done. As above its a management issue now.

^^^ What he said. Total incompetence, not keeping an eye on master cylinder level when pushing pistons back.

the thing is brake caliper dont pit unless there was water corrosion inside the cilinder. Water corrosion only occures when the brake fluid is not changed on time, Like when you just get charged for brake fluid exchange and it never was done other then on the bill.
