Hi all, I'm heading back to NZ later in the year for good, I will be shipping my Mopar back, has anyone done this before (Aus-NZ) , how do I go about getting it on the road in NZ , is this an easyish process. Transport NZ site can be somewhat confusing and I want to do this right with no hiccups. Thanks in advance

Just sell it in Aus.
Wait, is it a Val or a Dodge?

No such thing as a 68 Valiant Charger!

No such thing as a 68 Valiant Charger.
First question:- Is it unmolested? Needs to be rustish free. As in, FA floor, structural or chassis rust Brakes in good condition. And a good idea to fit new brake hoses. Suspension rubbers good.

True but they never wrote the 'Valiant' word in the original post. so its a '68 Charger like they wrote. unless of course you were replying to post # 2.

Whilst Certainly some folk have been made to strip back paint and redo body repairs that were okay elsewhere, and have had endless hassles, it seems this varies a lot. Mate bought in a late 60s Dodge Charger from states that was very original showing plenty of surface rust. Even had a real bullet hole in it. But that way nothing was hidden so it got through fairly easily. But others have to spend plenty on really nice cars because of evidence of repairs that can't be seen under nice shiny paint. Then there is who does compliance, again there's some sad stories around and some really good operators. So, maybe contact the club scene here, if there's a mopar one great, if not hot rod club, and get advice. The hot rod boys were involved in the setting up of the whole compliance system so know their way around. That charger was very very cool, did a write up on it for nz classic car mag, few years back now.

As we've all just found out via clarkie - there's 34 registered here. How many are 440's, we don't know.
As tama sez - faded & worn paint is the best. Fresh & bogged is a no-no. Post some pics.

If the car was originally vinned and certed here before. NZTA should still have records of it I would imagine. If it still has the Vin Number I would think the process should be straight forward from there, depending how long you`ve had it over in Aus. Where are you looking to base yourself in NZ? You can always get in touch with these guys if you need some compliance advice. http://www.lvvta.org.nz/

FYI , i believe if you have lived in Oz for 2 years or more and have owned the Dodge for the same amount of time that you dont pay GST on the cars value , but you cant sell the car for at least 2 years after you get home. The rest of the process is easy if the car is in decent to good shape , is it pretty much factory stock appearing bar maybe a set of Welds or Cragars ? Are you based in Perth ?

Yup, Perth, not original 440 and 4 speed, but was factory optioned with that combo. Convo pros, MSD, headers thats pretty much it.

Most of us guessed that.
Go to 'My Trade Me' - click on 'View My Trade Me' - scroll down to 'My Photos' and follow your nose. Once they're downloaded - Right click on the photo/s you want to paste in here - click on 'Copy Shortcut' - then move back to this message box and right click where you want the link - then click 'Paste'

Will be good to see another classic mopar in Hawkes Bay. I have a 71 GTX, 440 with a Kiesler TKO 5 speed conversion. Also know of a 69 Charger & 71 Satellite Hardtop that lurk about here too.

Might pay to put a GPS tracker in it. And if it's at all possible, avoid telling anyone on the Docks what's inside the container.
