Seems NZ suburbs will never be free of rotary engine noises.

Nice looking rod - pity didn't have an 8 in it - where is the low down power
with an egg beater ? Or even top end - went pass me young cousin's series 1 rx7 in an si 88 prelude like he was standing still, he was tapped out - admittedly he did have his drivers window wound right down as he was leaning back smoking a durrie. Granted tricked up ones go good but an average one overrated !

"we think that hybrid technology will play a heavy role in making sure that MPG figures are well within reach if not more competitive than its internal combustion counterparts."

Excuse my ignorance but a rotary engine is also an 'internal combustion' engine is it not.

Sure is - just pistonless

A wankel hybrid seems likely, it's been talked about using small wankels as range extenders previously (don't know if any manufacturers have followed through).

Having a big wankel providing power for electric motors makes some sense, the wankel can spin at however fast it needs for best efficiency and longevity without impacting the drive-ability.

Why would it want to be!

Hopefully the engine is more like the Rx7 than the boring rx8

Flush RBs and Rotaries down the toilet. They're the scourge of NZ suburbia.
