Discontinued

I tried to get a part for a BA Falcon today that as it turns out has been discontinued. The part is a common fault part so I was taken back that they have stopped making it. I tried to get the part after market but found only one place this side of the ditch that has it.

Now this got me thinking that maybe buying a car that has been discontinued is not the best idea out there!

I have the latest Falcon you can get but are parts going to be around for 10 years? Well no they are not unless the Territory has the same parts.

Legally (Australian manufacturers) holden, Ford and Toyota are obliged to supply parts for there cars 10 years after they stop production.

#2 If that's the case then the same part on the BF should still be available

No point continuing to make a part that's clearly NBG.

v8mopar- sorry to tell Gramma how to suck eggs but are you sure the parts guy isn't being a ftard?
Ie the part is a common fail item Due to that issue it was replaced by XXXX that doesn't fail and its on the shelf.
I had that EXACT problem with caliper sliders on the 03 courier utes. They would bend -Causing that brake to "drag"
It wasn't until they ran out of stock of the "correct' slider that the parts guy told me there was another part that worked better.
