This is our little runabout that has had the timing belt changed in November, since then it hasn't had a lot of use, but since it has had the belt done it has developed a rough idle. When running seems fine. I thought maybe the spark plugs need cleaned, but a quick look on my friend google tells me that it could be a slipping belt - how would I know if this is the problem or does it sound like another issues. It has done 150000km.

change your plugs if due ! not sure wot u reading but sure slipping belt that was referred to was a drive belt . if timing belt was a tooth out may cause this but think would be the same running as for it slipping it would not run at all

Yep, it was in the workshop for 3 weeks so thought due to not running for a while - Is why it was idling rough.

i would check the timing belt is ligning up on its marks correct as first action. unless it had this problem befor timing belt was done. a vita is a berina or a astra. One of the most easy cars to repair .

be awear what is on google is often untrue unless you know what is true you will have a hard time finding true information on google. Like i can guarantee you a timing belt does not slip in the term of what the word slipping stands for defenition wise.

It took 3 weeks to renew a timing belt?!?! Unless something else has gone wrong coincidentally like coil pack failure they need to be double checking the cam timing, one of the cams is probably not timed correctly. Check engine lamp hasn't been on by any chance?

only other thing i can think of causing rugh idle and be awear this is only on petrol not diesel. egr valve stuck open will cause rough running only at idle. I can comand the egr valve to turn on with the opel software 66$ us from launch x431 idiag via my nexus 5 phone . for a test of the egr valve also if its the berina electric power steering can be calibrated with launch software.
