Does anyone know much about it - other than it is free? Someone said they are expecting about 12,000! All I have found out so far is that there will be a drift demo and there is a food fair included. Parking in the area will be chaotic if those figures are to be believed.

If there is a drift demo, then presumably that will use up some of the car park too!

good grief, times must've changed. I was part of an event at Nth Shore Events Centre years ago & the board we had to deal with were anal about the facilities & surrounds. We had to wheel the cars in on boards so not to mark the floors, had to have shitloads of white-coats in the carpark at all times to ensure no skids, safety etc etc etc Made organising a fun event really hard & any interactive events were canned due to the rules we had to abide by

Found a website on line about it.
A regards the rules, as above, maybe the fact that it is now under Auckland City Council rather than North Shore City Council may explain the change?
North Shore Council as was, did absolutely zero for motorsport. When they built the North Harbour Stadium, they had a golden opportunity to incorporate it into, or into it, a motorsports facility of sorts. they could have had speedway and karting within the stadium, or they could have had a combined a road circuit through the stadium, but they weren't interested or hadn't even thought about it.
Maybe it they had, it wouldn't have been a loss making White Elephant.
