Mark X

For a Toyota Mark X, am considering a 2009 with 70,000km and a 2011 with 120,000km. If price almost the same, is a lower mileage better?

are you talking mark X sedan or wagon?
if it is the sedan then the answer is--It depends !
2009 was the last year for one model and the first year for another.
if the one you are looking at is "old shape" then theres a good argument for going to the 2012 because the engine is different and puts out more power.
Basicly theres a very good chance the 09 is the older 04-09 model

Thanks. It's a sedan.

Would a 50,000km more miles on the 2011 make any difference to engine life?

if it has the 2azfe then yes. this engine does not age well. oil leaks head bolts stretching and gasket failure and general crappiness

Not in my opinion BUT the newer body shape would make a difference for me along with the fact that 2011 sounds much newer than 2009 .

Mark-X usually has the 2.5 4GR-FSE or 3.5 2GR-FSE.

The Zio has the awful 2AZ.

If it was the same model shape, it becomes a close call but if it is the new model, then it's a no brainer what would be the better buy.

yep 50k is 50k no matter how you wrap it up. BUT your question seemed to be which to buy. Again sorry it depends on which model 2009 it is. If old shape then the newer car with higher Km makes sense to buy. if its new shape then the older car is the sensible option.
the trouble is that the 09 couldbe mistaken for an 07 or even an 04 given 07 was only a very minor facelift.
09 was a significant change.

Either way, they are great cars and one of my favourite 10 year old sedan's (after the Lexus IS250).

Depends if the mileage is genuine and the 70 000 km car did not have Japanese burnout kids driving it etc.
How many are checked or are getting into NZ without checked history or can the history be falsified?

Thanks. Will keep that in mind when checking the cars out.

Why do you like the IS250 better?

Are you tall, or wide? Cramped driving position with not enough seat back and down adjustment for tall folk, and narrow for wide. Asian market only remember.
