Fixed Speed Cameras File

trevsnz, Jul 30, 6:53am
Hello, I've updated a file of all the Fixed speed cameras that I used to upload into my GPS Navigation system (I currently load these into my Nissan X-trail). I've manage to get most of the cameras down to a few square meters from its true location using Google earth, Google Maps and Street View. But found some of the cameras I just could not locate. So I have a genera idea as the police web site shows a start and finish range but I would like to get a better general location for those that I was unable to locate.
I have different file layouts. CSV, GPX and KML (google maps).

The ones that have (unable to locate) in the Address Fields is the ones I'm having trouble getting a location, 17 of them (listed below as well)

Even if I had pictures of these cameras I could used them to work out its GPS location

Coatsville-Riverhead Highway, Coatesville, Auckland
Wairau Road, Wairau Valley, Auckland
Old North Road, Kumeu, Auckland
Great North Road, Grey Lynn
Scenic Drive, Swanson, Auckland
Glenbrook Road, Glenbrook
Waiuku Road, Waiuku
Awhitu Road, Karioitahi
Otumoetai Road, Otumoetai, Tauranga
SH2, Pukehina
SH23, Raglan
SH29, Te Poi, Waikato
SH1, Otorohanga Road, Otorohonga
SH3, South Road, Mokoia
Featherston Street, Takaro, Palmerston North
SH56, Tiakitahuna
Leeston Road, Springston

It is possible that some of these no longer exist

The one on Otumoetai Rd in Tauranga hasn't been there for years. As far as I know there isn't a new one there.

The one on SH29, Te Poi is maybe 1 km towards Tauranga from the corner of SH29 and Rapurapu Road.

A lot of trouble you have gone to getting all that info.
To be honest, it seems like you intend breaking the law by speeding and use this as a tool to help avoid paying the penalty
I regard myself as a responsible driver and don't need this stuff===Just slow down mate, you are a menace to other drivers

Cheers for that, I've removed Otumoetai Rd in Tauranga :) I can see the old site on street view, also look like it was removed before 2010 as I can see the old slab of concrete for it

If the cameras were sited in known black spots, with a history of fatals, as opposed to areas where the creep beyond the Christmas 4kph tolerance is nothing more than a revenue gathering exercise, what is the problem with knowing where they are? If it improves road safety, surely that is a good thing?

Equally, warning of a thinly disguised revenue gatherer where a sensible driver might deem the safe speed is in fact 60kph not 50kph is no bad thing either. I have very few speeding tickets over the last 50 years and every single one has been just a few kph over the limit, including one for 86kph at 6:20am on the motorway (sic) on a Sunday morning.

Dangerous? Not one of them. There is speeding (naughty) and there is exceeding the speed limit.

We all know that the siting of some of these cameras is dubious and is not at all about road safety. Why do you think the UK speed cameras are all noted and are even painted bright orange, with extra markings on the road edge?

Is this not built into the navigation system in your car?

trevsnz, Jul 30, 9:27pm
No, but car dealers want big money if you want to update anything on your inbuilt NAV system. Try buying just a Map update and kiss $200 to $700 good buy for an update that's normally 1 year old to start with.

Jeeze mate, this is supposed to be a motoring MB?

Hand in your 'man card' this instance and be gone with you back to General or Parenting!

trevsnz, Jul 31, 12:15am
Already included :) The one's in the list above are the only ones I haven't been able to pin point there exact locations.

vtecintegra, Jul 31, 12:18am
I'm still in the initial 3 years on my car so I haven't had to pay for a map update yet but I've found the maps are reasonably up to date and I wouldn't mind paying the $185 it costs.

marmar1, Jul 31, 12:48am
You're right.

amasser, Jul 31, 2:01am
Agree. Lot of bother for what? Do you need to arrive a minute before everybody else? Why?
Drive within the limits, have less stress and more concentration. Enjoy the scenery (briefly) and the drive.

Be good if they had a Grand-parenting MB, I could teach the young ones how a swift smack on the backside could quickly sort a few kids out. No touchy, feeley cottonwool treatment can compare
