Used to see a few of these things on the road going back around 10 years or so. saw one on here the other day and it got me thinking about them. Haven't seen one of these on the road for a few years now. What happened to them all? Was it just a craze that died out or did they become illegal? I know the build quality of some of these bikes was shocking.

Coincidentally I saw somebody riding down the footpath on a mini bike the other day, sans helmet and in jandals. Hadn't seen one in a few years.
Anyway, I seem to recall that the entry certification rules for mopeds were tightened as a response to the growing influx of those deathtraps (when used on road that is, off road I expect they are somewhat fun), I expect that the ones that were on the road already have probably died by now or maybe the certification was revoked.

They were being registered as mopeds but most of them were more than 49cc.The cops caught on. Then any moped had to have correct paper work as they are first rego'd in nz so no new ones could be rego'd
Since the public registrations are closed, you must have an invite from a current member to be able to register and post in this thread.
