The sad part is that you, me and everyone else is we all end up paying for VTNZ s interpretation of those rules. My point was I got failed due to a stone chip (not a crack) that was a few cm off the bottom of the screen. The only view it (less then 5mm chip) obstructed from the drivers seat was the bonnet. Yet nav man, radar detector, wheel alignment and oil change stickers in way more prominent positions (nav man above the chip, radar detector middle of screen, cell phone holder to the right) yet none of these were an issue for vtnz.

I have seen a truck with a small bit of plastic the size of a thumb nail missing from a mudguard .rejected which is tough for truck coming a long distance.I have a single axle ramp trailer to carry Polaris for service rejected due to light surface rust on its chassis ,The chassis was a caravan chassis strong enough to carry a tank. All the man had to do was ask for the trailer be cleaned and painted for the next warrant,, I hope to get out of VTNZ due to the hold ups there but cant do that with our truck. I now register trailers as new with new plates to give us two year WOF

Sorry but taint interpretation. Have a look at the rules in the VIRM that another poster put up
