Nice ride mate, looks great in white. Enjoy.

Hahahaha!

Tell that to the middle aged owners of Harleys. They certainly didn't buy them for their handling and performance.

First week had really good weather up here, so rode it a lot. Did 259ks in a day. Petrol is greedy tho. A tank 25l only goes about 290ks, but might be my riding to blame too. Too bad. Wouldn’t dream of dicking around with the Nanny (computer) to be able to do skids or whatever, lol. Have joined the Spyder group to be able to meet and ride with new ppl. Anytime i leave it parked up and come back out there’s always a curious person waiting to have a chat, not surprising, unusual looking thing, space age almost. Has really good storage, awesome stereo, 4 speakers, Bluetooth, charger points, stereo, hydraulic lift bonnets, heated grips, adjustable windscreen etc,. It drives like a quad, or a JetSki, not a bike, not a car, but does have some similarities. Am in Chch for family business and back in May, so will do my first long ride then. I like it a lot and no regrets or regerts, lol.

Anyone on here own one of these. Any advice, do's & don'ts etc.

survivalkiwi, Aug 6, 8:31pm
Don't buy one if you want any respect from other bikers.

m16d, Aug 6, 8:33pm
If you cant ride two wheels, buy a car.
nothing pisses bike riders off more than Canams turning up at bike rallys thinking they own the place with their front wheel drive power steer mobile chicanes. and registered as a car for about a hundred bucks while all the bikies pay 500 to 600.

m16d, Aug 6, 8:34pm
Bingo.

sifty, Aug 6, 8:38pm
Unless you're disabled, don't.

skiff1, Aug 6, 8:55pm
Lol. All these staunch independent free spirit bikers who are massively concerned about the opinions of other bikers.
Get one if you want, and f. the haters! They're not my cup of tea, but at least they don't sound like poorly tuned tractors and you don't have to dress like a member of the village people to ride one.

desmodave, Aug 6, 9:00pm
Have you ridden 1 and seen how fast the fuel gauge drops . . Not that i have ever given a shit about fuel economy .Rotax motor still makes a nice noise but unless i was an invalid i wouldn't want 1 . On a positive note , it will never fall off its side stand . If you do happen to get 1 i would still try it out for ya .

All the disadvantages of a motorcycle with none of the advantages.

tamarillo, Aug 6, 11:08pm
If you want one get one. They really tricky to ride at first as they steer like an atv turning handlebars, but if you're not a bike rider that won't seem odd. In right hands they can be damn quick as they have lots of grip and clever traction control that keeps it all in order.
To a biker they're no use as you don't lean, but if you want some fun, don't ride, and dare to be different, go for it and don't give shit about what others say.

What a load of bollocks.
Dad is 78 and is on his second one. As he said, he's too old to hold up a big bike these days yet still likes the freedom of being outside a cage. And as for other bikers not appreciating them, I'm sorry, but if you are that much of a bike snob I feel sorry for you. Our Ulysses club has 2 members with them and we openly encourage them for riders not able to handle 2 wheels, be it by age or disability.
As for op's question, the later one is better but the early one had no major issues. I put heated grips, bar risers, extended brake pedal and floorboards for dad's old RS-S but his new F3 is far more rider friendly. Jump on one and try it out

gunhand, Aug 6, 11:48pm
Again, what a load of crap. I don't think its ever been have ever said they are a motorcycle, ever, so shouldnt really be compared to one. More along the lines of a trike situation. But unlike many trikes they have shit loads of R&D behind them and are not hacked up two wheel bikes or cars or whatever. Would I own one, well yes maybe one day, I can see some benefits to having one for sure.
Spoken with some owners of them who also own some rather flash HiPo two wheelers as well and they have said once you adapt they are great machines.
I imagine you and you biker friends who get pissed off with them don't think far outside the square, or maybe is it the cylindrical aluminum thing held in some peoples hand all the time while talking shit.

gusthe1, Aug 6, 11:50pm
is that important to you - "respect" from someone who judges you on what you ride/drive. It must expensive for you to meet others expectations. Sad really

m16d, Aug 7, 2:54am
I can just feel the love coming from the three wheel bods.

berg, Aug 7, 3:45am
Incorrect again. Yamaha MT09 Tracer here

gunhand, Aug 7, 4:02am
Wrong, BMW R1100RT here. In case you not familiar with that, two wheels.

noswalg, Aug 7, 4:14am
Just out of interest what do you ride?

m16d, Aug 7, 4:48am

kevlight, Aug 7, 5:02am
nothing to moan about here ! although my R80 BMW isnt the power machine others ride on rallys,,, i was impressed with the two can ams,,, on the last run ,the white triple later model Can Am, was way at the front of the pack,,, and the Green one was an older model ridden by a senior, that was no slouch either. im thinking of trading the BMW ,,on one but the space they take up at home is the kicker at the mo . each to his own .they are a neat machine IMHO .

survivalkiwi, Aug 7, 5:41am
Oh. Touchy subject. I don't ride a motor bike but if I did I wouldn't buy a can am spider. I also would not wear a mankinI. Or a pink tutu.
But if that is what floats your boat and you dont mind being laughed at then that's cool.
