OK. my new D-Max does a regen every about 400 odd k's. It takes exactly 10k's to regen. usually at 100 to 120 kph.
Just back from a trip to Rarotonga, and there's heaps of new diesel utes there. how can they do regen when the speed limit is only 50kph, and yer hard pressed to find anywhere to do that.

they dont they either remove the dpf . or they get blocked. only other opton is a forced regeneration and a oil change each time. Dpf last at best 245,000km as livespan. my passat got a new one at 9 grand with 190,000km

do a manual one but it will not complete unless the exhaust is hot enough and when it does it will take 20-40mins, so do it when its working

faild regenerations and forced regen causes a lot of diesel in the sump. if the system works by injecting fuel in the exhaust via the empty stroke of a 4 stroke. Its why only factory spec oil must be used and it must be dumped if oil level rises from to much dilution before the oil Sheers and destruction starts .

So intrade. how do you remove the dpf. I know it can be done, but nobody wants to talk about it. Even my dealer said it can be done but they want nothing to do with removing emission gear.

two main problems with removing dpf, one is fooling the system so it works without the dpf or thinks its still there. either via software ie rewrite the ecu, or by tweaking a few sensors. i know some vehicles will do a regen even if it doesn't need it (or dpf is not even there). that often requires a ecu rewrite to fix that.
the other thing is the soot production. you can get rid of a lot of it by removing or reducing the egr. easy way is to block it with a plate or a plate with a small hole in it. even reducing 50% of the egr will reduce soot production by a very large amount. if the engine isn;t making the soot then the dpf is not going to fill up so quick and will probably clean it self with normal driving.
of course you can do all that with rewriting the ecu, including disabling the adblue system.

Love their vehicle regulations over there. #1: reg the vehicle #2: don't speed #3: don't cause an accident #4: anything else is good to go. . >>>

O.P how do you know that your ute is doing a re-gen ?

It's got a thing on the dash that shows how full the dpf is, and shows a symbol when it's doing a regen.

Many of the less wealthy countries in the world have lower emissions standards than NZ (and many other first world countries).
There are enough volume of purchases in these markets that manufactures make vehicles to fit those countries emissions laws. Obviously designing to a dirtier emissions tier means expensive, and maintenance requiring emissions controls can be left out, making the car cheaper to produce, and more desirable to own (assuming you don't breath your own exhaust).
The Thai built Utes & SUV's are often designed to target such markets.
For example, here is the brochure for the Toyota Fortuner in the Philipines:
Note: Euro 5 emissions for sole offered drivetrian (2.7L Diesel 4x4)
I assume raratonga is similar.

Of course, people don't want to talk about removing or tampering with emissions controls equipment. As it is illegal under the following bit law "Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Exhaust Emissions 2007".
Enforcement currently seems quite lax, but I wouldn't count on it being that way long term.

m16d The problem is its illegal to do so since 2008 or 2009 or 2010 So no one could write a invoice to do it today The law stated anything existing on a vehicle after the date the law came in effect is not to be removed . However they cant proof that my passat had its dpf removed in the first year it was registered . if i remove it now and just say it was never there. Then there is no possibility to proof otherwise. This would be why no one would do it for you.

https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/diesel-particulate-filter-dpf-fap/ REad thru this they sell dpf delet kits for offroad on v-a-g groupe vehicles The procedure is the same you just would have to find somone who has a map with the delete and then remove the dpf and install a blank unit. Best to store the dpf in a box for in case The knotheads start emission tip testing

But if ez ute is 2017 or there abouts, how can it be removed prior to 2008/09/10?
intrade,

it cant be done legally . "it can be done illegally no question." how its done is on darkside developemnts site dpf is dpf all work similar. Tuning map usually have the delete in them. its how i found my bora had no egr when the scantool said not present lol
