Would you risk doing 250mph in it though ?

poppy62, Sep 30, 3:50am
You missed this pertinent part of the article.

Of course, it's unclear how reliable (or drivable) the LFP Hellion would be running 30 lbs of boost. And of course, you can kiss your factory powertrain warranty goodbye—and Lebanon Ford doesn't offer any kind of warranty coverage on the Hellion components. We've asked the dealership if it's sold any Hellions, and how much power they were tuned for; we'll update this post if we hear back.

It also doesn't state that it can go around corners, and it still falls in the bread and butter class of cars.

Would fead it the jandal to 250mph, old cart axle gt500
mustang could sit on 200 mph all day long.

Would Ford USA be allowing such modifications by a dealership
if it was unsafe ?

mals69, Sep 30, 7:16am
No seen your quoted part, think that dealership knows what they
are doing, sold many such setups, soon be out of business sellng
a crap set up.

Er. um. yeah nah. They just claimed their 6 psi 600 hp street engine could produce be turned up to produce reliable 1200 hp at 30 psi?

[Quote] "But the folks at Lebanon Ford think that the Package 2 kit can support way more horsepower than that".

Having run race prepared engines for very short periods (hill climbs) at 30 plus psi (on No1 with 20% Toluene) I'll have to remain a skeptic.

bill-robinson, Sep 30, 4:43pm
600 hp is easy from a 1760cc bda on100 octane why do you need a bigger engine? 25 years ago as well. sounds like merican sales speak to me

It's more likely the OP found another comfort 'stang fairytale story he wanted to share, so he can feel all warm and fuzzy! We await the Nissan follow up.

mals69, Sep 30, 10:19pm
But were you using a coyote 5.0 ? Ford knows how to build
strong performance vehicles these days.
2014 Mustang GT500's go in for 850HP supersnake upgrades and they
don't have to upgrade running gear, handles the jandal no worries.

Lebanon Ford would risk one star google reviews etc if they were
putting out vehicles that lasted a week, don't think they would be
that silly risking their business reputation.

mals69, Sep 30, 10:22pm
Got to stipple my ceiling somehow.

bill-robinson, Sep 30, 11:00pm
is it 4wd? 1200 hp is a waste of time with 2wd

mals69, Sep 30, 11:20pm
No not 4WD, latest model stang be worse at getting
the power to the road too now that it is minus the
cart axle.

With the yanks being able to run more or less
a drag tyre on the road it would help, but yes
good point unless you like "painting" 11's on
the road everywhere you go.

elect70, Sep 30, 11:37pm
. . Fine drag car just wind up the boost to 30psi for street class on a pro tree wipe the opposition , just put new motor in every other meeting . Unless its built with billet steel crank& rods & forged pistons which is unlikely .

sr2, Sep 30, 11:40pm
Yes I have to agree. Love the car but going from 6 to 30 psi of boost?

richardmayes, Oct 1, 9:39am
Not that I want to be all Neville negative. but WTF do you actually DO with a 1400hp rwd road car?

The fastest thing I've ever driven was an HQ ute with a supercharged smallblock chev, the owner reckoned it makes about 900hp at full noise. I gave it about half throttle coming down the southbound on-ramp at Porirua and the world around me went into slow motion, it was like Han Solo said "punch it, Chewie!"

I heard a V8 supercar driver say those things with racing tyres will spin their wheels in 6th gear on the main straight if you're too rough.

So I take it the 1400hp mustang is for drag racing days and bragging rights?

neell, Oct 1, 7:23pm
Fast - cheap - reliable.
Which 2 do you want?

mals69, Oct 1, 9:55pm
Swap out the rods is all that is needed on a coyote 5.0
to handle big HP.

elect70, Jan 6, 12:16am
Nothing new, in the 60s they sold road legal cars that were really just liightweight race cars depending on what boxes you ticked at the dealer thin glass no carpet basic upholstery thin glass thin paint . , with hi po donks 5-600 hp which was a lot in those days
