"I notice there wasn't any actual disagreement with #19" - You are entitled to your opinion, it is only your opinion after all and I'm not going to argue with you just for the sake of it. I was just interested to know why you feel the way you do. In any organisation unfortunately there will always be those that behave in manners that would be less desirable. As for myself, I can't identify with any of the attributes you've laid against the members of the NZMCA. My toilet seat is not heated, I have only a modest L300 motor home and I'm not rich, so I will consider affordable camping options which sometimes does include commercial camping grounds.

An absolute must for the benefits. Just be wary of technical advice from members. The amount of cringeworthy advice that gets shared is significant. I find they are usually kind and sociable old buggers but the amount of stuff I have had to put right for members because of bad or out of date advice is troublesome.

Jazz, the NZ Motorhome forum is usually good (not directly part of NZMCA). Although I haven't followed it for quite a long time.
I’m with franc123 , the NZMCA has a solid base of pompous twats who look down there noses at anybody who doesn’t have the lastest flash rig They are actively campaigning behind the scenes to prevent vehicles without a permantly plumbed toilet getting self containment , yet these same prats will happily drop there grey water anywhere they choose One only has to me a member of the NZMCA wings Facebook page to see all the bullshit every day

So you have been a member of the NZMCA, have you?

Never been a member of the NZMCA but been a camper, both in motor camps and freedom camping for some years. Don't believe that I am missing anything by not being a member. As suggested by previous posters, some of their members are a bit different. For example, the complete strangers who give you their life story within 20 minutes of you pulling into a site, or the ones who believe they have some sort of authority to inspect your self containment status. But to be fair, they are probably only the 1%ers and most organizations have got them. For now, I will remain a non member but that could change in the future if somebody has a convincing reason to do so.

Even if you choose to have nothing to do with other NZMCA members the benefits of becoming one are well worth while, you may be surprised to discover they are just like you and end up making some really great friends

Seems competitive to me which goes against the spirit of the activity and its a necessity for some. I remember going to a kinda farm show, there were many trucks & buses on display & all they talked about was how good their toilet was on board. If you dont have a septic tank on board doest mean your poohs smell more.

Maoris not allowed to camp?

Totally the opposite. which is why the word maori removed so it was a generic /non racial comment. If you REALLY wanna P### the "site claimers" off turn up on a small group of motorcycles and pitch your pup tents on their spot.

We are members, and have crossed over to and from the South Island, that alone was worth the membership discount with Blue Bridge. Cons have to agree with comments regarding going to far and to much input into SC. Nothing wrong with a porta potty and pop up tent. Next they will be wanting a bloody shower in all vehicles .
