I was doing something under the dash of my Nissan Avenir W11 the other day, and noticed that the cable that releases the parking brake has a couple of broken strands on the lower end (foot operated parking brake, release by cable from the dash). Price from Nissan is $117 + gst, which in my view is ridiculous for a short and very unspecialised cable. Is there anyone around in Auckland that make up cables?

Can you post a photo? Is it just a new or reterminated connector needed? Any competent auto electrician should be able to repair it.

problem is 117 is not to bad considering that everything has doubled in price the last 10 years . now if your in luck then rexbo.eu would list it for 16 euro its what i think i paid for my fiat handbrake cable . but then there is 39 euro or so shipping so 60 euro and 60 euro is about 120$ Unless you buy other stuff also to but shipping will go up if you go over the priced kg i think 2kg for 39 you could get plugs and light stuff like air cleaners to overall be loads cheaper . and its Dhl express 4 day from germany to your door step. dont looks good if a model is hardly sold in europe then rexbo wont have listings . it lists head gasket for my mb140 istana ssangyoung only because it was also on the engine of the korando and musso who where sold there.

Ah, silly me - I thought it was an electric cable operating a solenoid release!
