I hope not. I see them on SH1 in North Canterbury most days I go out and they do a really good job.

Probably no point as they are the only ones silly enough to buy new Commodes, so everyone knows they are police anyway.

Where did you read this? Doubt it very much. Tricky ones to spot are the station wagons I find. Curse the sod who nicked my detector off my bike.

I would just be happy if they policed the actual safety hazards of a particular area. Instead of just sitting with their radar rain/hail or snow.
Nothing as absurd as seeing two cops radaring in a severe storm where there were unmarked slips, washouts and trees blocking an entire lane. If it's the system to blame making them put ticks in box's they need to man up and expose it. No taxpayer should be paying for this sort of wasteful nonsense.

Id like to see the police target cell phone use in cars, exempting hands free of course. It's rampant! And dangerous. and the cops dont care.

Why arent there any traffic patrols in the suburbs ? There is some shocking driving in some suburbs, people speeding, running stop signs/red lights, over taking people driving at 50kmh etc.
Its good there is some motorway patrolling but yea even that needs way more work on it, but really need suburbia patrols too.

They may want you to believe that, but I saw an SUV mufti today racing by with the lights flashing, I was quite surprised as I thought the muftis were mostly commodores

Ever stopped to think that perhaps policing speed in bad weather is a good thing . Too many numpties drive at the same speed regardless of weather conditions And hey why is it only the jazz who seems to have all these things happen in his neck of the woods . perhaps if you dropped the chip of ya shoulder you might actually enjoy life .

ian86 are you sure that was a Police vehicle ?

It may not of been ? . but had the blue and red lights flashing similar to a police car with no markings to suggest fire or ambulance . so, no not sure . I just gave him room to allow him to get where he was going .

I may cop flak for this, but how is talking to someone on a phone held up to your ear any different to talking to someone with hands free or in the passenger seat for that matter? Yeah it's against the law, so was being gay a while back. Texting, using the mobile net etc I get, but talking on a phone?

If you can't see the lack of logic in radaring during a storm where people are doing maybe 60 -70km/h at most in 100km/h zone I can't help you.
It's about priorities, they should always be asking, what are the greatest dangers on the road right now and Policing those. It's common sense, but sadly that is something our Police lack.

I will tell you how stupid cops are, about a couple weeks ago the local high school had its ball/dance. All the parents that could get their hands on nice cars did and delivered all the dressed up kids to the ball in style. The kids had parked their cars behind the hall to get home earlier in the day. Well near the hall is a service station and there they were, Three cop cars and endless drive past the venue acts by police, then after the ball was over, No police and thats when all the kids on restricted licences drove home from the ball at midnight and with cars full of girl friends and mates, to dump the good clothing and go to the after ball on the bus with all the booze. So much for safer drivers, safer communities and a police force that teaches the young by actually enforcing good law. The number of kids that roll bowl and asshole their cars is the same as ever as police are too busy trying to fine minor speeding or simply are not on the road.

dialling the number or texting is the problem, eyes not on the road. My hands free I just talk to the car and its dials the number
