when i 1st let my Toyota surf glow in the mornings its start and cough's and blows white smoke and runs ruff for about 5 sec then clears and then its fine to start the rest of the day i have put a new head on and new glow plugs and new glow plug timer and nother primer pump and it stilling doing the same thing im am thinking it could be something to do with the injectors does anyone have any other idea ?

White smoke is lean (not enough diesel), or coolant is in the combustion mix. check your coolant level, when was your fuel filter last changed? I am assuming it's a Diesel motor.

White smoke isn't smoke. it's unburnt diesel.
You could check the compressions are all more or less equal by loosening one injector pipe at a time and checking that the revs drop by the same amount on each cylinder. If the idle is ok, and the rev drop is the same on all cylinders, then I'd say it's either an injector or air getting in overnight. Since it only does it on the first start, and you think it's running ok otherwise, I'd be suspecting air getting in.
Any sign of diesel leaks on the pump? And hoses perished or loose where they go onto the filter or pump ?
You could pull the injectors and reattach them to their pipes and then get someone to crank it over while you watch the injector spray and pattern. It should be a mist without drips, and it should be in a nice conical pattern. You'd want to do this cold to check for a sticky injector nozzle.
Really though. air getting in overnight is the more likely cause.

check to see if there is voltage on the glow plug rail. real common for people to stuff up the connections and short the rail out, blowing the fuse.
if there is voltage, check what its is and how long it stays on. have seen issues where failing caps in the ecu screws up the glow plug timings.

Also check for corrosion in all joints check all glowplugs are working.
If that valve plays up they don't go at all. never seen one cause a misfire on one cylinder. And it's never a good idea to start swapping expensive parts just as a experiment to see if it fixes the problem.

It will be sure to piss people off ,Iv'e seen all sorts of stuff happening, ecu swapped out ,wiring pulled out , all the usual such as fuel drains ,fresh fuel ,you name it before they get to that valve. That valve can come right run for months no problem then again issues arise then finally stall dead and no go at all then hello its back up again running!.After all the obvious checks done I heavily suggest that valve replaced. usually the cheaper option when after chasing around in circles doing other stuff that needn't be done. And that part is a known fail item on that engine .I have done a few! If #1 had a new head put on it Im sure who ever did that job would be thorough enough to have covered all the obvious , injectors ,glow plugs etc.

Sometimes something as simple as a loose fitting hose on the fuel filter causes those symptoms too Strobo. And it's easily overlooked.
As you say, that valve failing usually results in a no go. Have you ever seen one cause a misfire ? I haven't. And the last time I priced one of those valves it was $400. not a cheap experiment in my books. Changing a fuel filter is a simple and logical first step. swapping electrical/electronic components isn't.

For the sake of a few dollars why not bung in some diesel injector cleaner? Certainly won't hurt. It does a great job of cleaning injectors and getting that tip spraying nicely. Then see how it goes after that. May be all you need to do. I always ran Moreys in my fuel (1KTZE Prado) too. Used an injector cleaner first when I bought the Prado, then ran Moreys after that.

The clue here guys is that it only does it at the first start of the day. it's either because it's cold, or because there is air that has got in. a loose hose on the fuel pump or filter can allow gravity to drain the lines back towards the tank and a tiny bubble of air to get in. And yeah yeah I know there are valves in the filter. and that those valves are often crappy and leak.

I agree about the fuel conditioner though. that does make engines run smoother, quieter and with less smoke. And if by chance there is one injector needle getting a little sticky when cold(caused by water in the fuel), it will help sort that. Conditioner would be worth a try.

Before starting when cold pump the primer on top of the fuel filter until it goes firm then start. See if that makes a difference.
you can get the injectors overhauled, cheaper than new ones.

Bleed the injectors in the morning, soon see if air in the line, rule in or out that potential problem.

Good plan.

poss wrong glow plugs depends on where the head came from, some 1kz heads the glow plugs screw in alright but the electrode touches the head re, to fat and short, had this same problem with 1 , let me know if u want the correct glow plug nos to check
