I'm gradually replacing my old bottom-tier sockets and spanners with powerbuilt ones (avail everywhere - Repco, Mitre10, etc etc.)
Those are 'good enough' for me as a skinny and not particularly strong office guy who does his own oil changes and basic maintenance.
They have slimmer necks and rings like good quality gear. Budget bottom-of-the-heap spanners and sockets tend to have really fat heads and sides that get in the way of stuff all the time.
Also for working on cars, when you are finished it is so much quicker and easier to clean the grease off tools that have a shiny mirror-like finish! I hate trying to clean grease and road dirt off spanners that have a porous sand-cast type finish, or knurled handles / grooved handles / rubber handles.

Perfectly fine for the home handyman/mechanic and quality is more than adequate

Check out the length of warranty on the tools and it pays to keep the receipt.

The thermal printed receipts most shops use now don't last very long. I take photos of mine now and keep them on my phone.

Life of the buyer or life of the tool?

I like the tools, well the red ones anyway. Not keen on the new blue range cos they are the same color as the opposition's tools.

the repco branded tools are fairly decent for the backyard mechanic. Powerbuilt not too bad either

Mechpro and GV I would say for pretty much the home handy man who isn't overly handy lol. They will do the job, but when the going gets tough. Repco brand are pretty good yes. And watch warranties, yes they will replace the tool but then the new tool is no longer covered. I found this odd and questioned it and thats what I was told when I done my sentence there. Tools are like most things, quality costs, Ive always found middle of the road pricing works for me. i:e cheap $20 expensive $80 acceptable $45. Buy a cheap pair of vice grips and give the a good serve and see what happens, then use a high quality pair and you will retain your body parts when applying force. You have to ask (as example) why you can buy a set of 3 vice grips for bugger all and yet one pair may cost 5 times that of the set of 3.
