Go take a chill pill dude, this is a discussion board is it not. I asked a question, if you don't know the answer why bother yourself to comment!

Sold for $2345 plus Turners fees that is quite a bit. I don't think it is rover79 who is carrying on.

seller would of been happy! must of had some sentimental value to the buyer for that price.

manual transmission are not as reliable as the automatics of that toyota years. often the noises in manual come from burnouts done .

What Was So Special About This
Want It? Own It For As Little As 20 Bucks a week
Turners. Finance

I cant believe you all missed the key feature the price was so high, ITS THE POWER STEER MODEL! This wasn't standard on most of those 2E Corollas of that era.

182k on a rolla. only just run in.

It wasn't that tidy, it looks straight but the description mentioned severe scuffs in a few places and stone chipping. Tyres were 2.6 3 3.6 and 3.8 I had wondered if the motor was something special.
Got me beat, Maybe Rachel Hunter owned it in her younger days

Reliable transport. Looks relatively tidy. Proven resale value. Not an oddball. For comparison I sold an '87 lift back with the 2E and power steering back in 2012 for $2000 to a work mate.

Shish, if it's alive at this age, it's a keeper.
We bought a 5 door corolla at well over 200k, 2 owner for $2000 back when eldest son was at high school. Still have it, going to third son in Uni soon. Eldest is now 28. So we have owned it about 12-13 yrs now. Wife has just stopped using it as her daily get to school car to go to a Rav, because of a hip problem. Will be our second Rav, eldest has the first one, which was the wife's parents car before us.

It just looks like a classic bidding war. all logic out the door

From the ad: "Successful bidders are TO PAY WITHIN 1 BUSINESS DAY of the auction closing, overdue accounts will be passed to a debt collection agency with all debt collection and legal costs incurred by Turners Ltd will be passed onto the buyer. The successful bidder has been deemed to accept all these Terms and Conditions."
It seems a bit excessive that 2 days after the auction has finished they say they may send you to debt collections. Seems a little heavy handed and not even sure if that would be legal. Surely there would be some laws that state what the time frame for payment of purchases from auctions is, and what the processes are that the companies need to go through before engaging in debt collection agencies?
Either way, there's no way I'd ever spend that much on a 1990 Toyota Corolla. WOW!

people who spent 5 grand on there new toyotas and still walk because the car is as broken down as it was before it went in for repairs have no problems parting with 2 grand or a car who actuarly moves . 5g for a repair for a car that still dont moves verses 2k for one who does = a no brainer plenty people with modern broken cars who will pay 2k in a flash for anything that dont costs 10 years wages to repair a minor problem.

To #4. The Turners 'Buyer fees' are built into the selling price on their TradeMe auctions. so what you bid is what you pay.

of course but point is it was not $2000 sale price that someone said it was more like $2800
tgray,
Sep 20, 4:39am
I would have thought the value was between $1500 and $2000.
rover79,
Sep 20, 4:44am
It will be 2800 by the time the cambelt and associated work is done
intrade,
Sep 20, 4:50am
260$ i charge to do a cambelt on one of these engines. 160 brake fluid exchange 160 coolant exchange or 250 with geniuen toyota coolant as should be used 75$ for toyota coolant i have to pay full retail like anyone vw oem coolant retails a lot cheaper . So yea by the time its propper serviced it be 3 grand . still cheaper then the repair of a new toyota who is still broken after the morons replaced everything they pulled a code for.
cattleshed,

$260 incl labour for belt, tensioner, idler and labour?
buyit59,
Sep 20, 5:05am
It sold for $2,345 . so where does $2,8 come from ?
richynuts,
Sep 20, 5:31am
maybe some people think there is a turners fee? IMO that car is ok for the price it will do another 150.000kms easily and if just using for a work hack it will be cheap as chips to run.
