Seems to be because one set of experts think they are right and the other set of experts are wrong. I doubt that any actual safety improvement in truck driveshafts will come about as a result of a rerun so long after the event.

The only ones that will be benefiting are the lawyers.

Find the muppet that did the COF check on it previously as it either had loose or missing lock tabs on the Universal joint crosses or no grease due to lack of proper maintenance. Usually rear jack shafts that leap out. Someone has been covering this up for too long.

Any news of the outcome of the current review?

I remembered that happening at the time there were reminder notices went around the trade about ensuring correct use of locking devices and applying torque settings etc and understood the general consensus of opinion about what happened was a new drive shaft Ujoint had been fitted prior to the incident and the end caps weren't secured properly & thus coming loose ,vibrating apart ,and dislodging the parts across the motorway. But then hey what would I know!,looks like all other options are suspect and they are to be yet proved by the look of it.
