Sylvia Striker.

In not usually a fan of kit cars, but gee did this grab my attention driving down the road yesterday. I was tempted to spin around and chase it for a second look.

looks like a multitude of Lotus parts stuck together in some random effort although I can see a touch of Damiler Dart at the rear and Triumph / Healy at the front. Only my opinion, but the ' concept car ' was drawn on dunny paper and then the drawing was used in the dunny

Jesus wept. Squashed frog anyone.

The designer forgot about entry no doors be a bit hard trying to extract oneself from under the steering wheel

poppy62, Sep 2, 9:29pm
I thought it was a Nissan by the OPs heading. But it's not a Sylvia! it's a SYLVA!

budgel, Sep 2, 9:44pm
Looks very '60's sports racer.

evanscb, Sep 3, 9:02pm
Built one of these in the 80s. basic lotus 7 type chassis enclosed fiber body.I think escort was the donor car. not to sure cause i upgraded box section size and ran 302 ford v8 , toyota 5 speed, dana diff, was road legal and ran in sports car class .WEAPON! Won just about every race ever entered. Have pics of the build , but got no scanner at the moment to post them. Very cool little car.

To those of us who value true performance far more than aesthetics it is very, very much a thing of beauty.

the-lada-dude, Sep 4, 6:11pm
What are you referring to . the Lada or your project . lol

how much do you think the piece of green saliva tricar cost ?

sr2, Sep 4, 7:57pm
How could it not be the Lada.

richardmayes, Sep 4, 8:02pm
Dude. why are you like this?

friendly_prawn, Sep 4, 8:49pm
As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It would be nice if we were all rich enough to own late model corvette. For the majority of us, unfortunately thats not a reality. I could see the striker as a fun car. Sure its not perfect. (If only I were a rich man) But I wouldnt say no to one in my garage. I would drop an 8 in to it, raise the ride height, it looks to be sitting too low for me, and see if a hard top could some how be manufactured for it. Must be a way you could hinge one. Or perhaps that body on another chassi. I love it. The shape is soooo cool. Its my dream shape. Said it before and I'll say it again that coke bottle shape gets my juices flowing.

Car might not be perfect but on my budget it could possibly something I could afford to buy and have some fun weekends with it. I could imagine that thing with an 8 in it would be like a go cart on steroids. Wonder what they cost. Probably still out of my league. Things could be worse. I could be stuck driving a Lada.

I thought the Stryker was a Bruce Turnbull creation or am I wrong?

friendly_prawn, Sep 5, 6:58am
Here's the company that makes them if that helps.

Looks like a lot of fun for the summer. carjam says it's a 4A motor which google says is a single cam two valve toyota [i know nothing without google lol, or am i wrong]. No doubt a good reliable simple motor. Think rear tires might rub getting firewood in the boot [does it have a boot, or somewhere for the mother in-law].

Hey you prat, where did I write this ? . you can't go mucking around with tech to make out I WROTE a comment when in fact I did not . what a slimey arsehole thing to do . FYAH

I call a spade a spade, and as I said :::in my opinion it is a total mismash of design, and about 20 times more ugly than a Daimler Dart I can only hope that it performs better than it looks

and here's your complete quote

bruce did the saker.

friendly_prawn, Sep 5, 6:35pm
Got to admit, daimler dart's aren't that pretty, but still wouldnt say no to one. I quite like them as ugly as they are. Just the fact they're a small V8 sports car does it for me. I seen one parked in a farmers shed years ago. (barn find)

It had been sitting there for god knows how long. I kept thinking about it over the years. One day I thought, damn, its a waste just sitting there. I'll go make him an offer on it. Went to track it down. Shed had been bulldozed and car long gone. Farm sold. I often wonder where it ended up. Would have been a nice toy. Oh well, cant win em all.

socram, Sep 5, 7:23pm
Its Sylva, not Sylvia. Women on the brain again eh FP?

Stryka's have been around for years and were nothing to do with Frasers.

Probably not quite as attractive as the Beattie/Redline - but in the same way that the Frasers copied the basic Lotus Seven, the Beattie paid homage to the Lola.

supernova2, Sep 5, 9:15pm
Well I was sorta right. Both got a "S", "K", "E" and a "R" in the name

friendly_prawn, Sep 5, 9:38pm
