FW cooling

2cy diesel Shibaura in the boat. FW pump shat itself and not coming off- busting the flange trying. Dont expect to find any spares. How about putting a 12v pump on instead? Need a speed controller? What do you need to consider

whats fw pump? fresh water? if so your heat exchanger be rooted next

FW = fresh water. Why would the heatexchanger get rooted.?

A mate had one in a yacht over 10 years ago. It was a bit of an orphan for parts back then.
To answer the original post, yes it is feasible. Get a proper coolant pump that can handle the temperatures, and duplicate the existing circuit. You are still going to have to repair your flange so the piping will fit.
