Fair price to straighten rims

GDay again, I feel like I've got to the bottom of the problem of the discomfort in the Falcon. I went to get the wheels balanced today as it felt much like a wheel balance issue but I wasn't happy to watch the wheel go around on the machine! they were out of round up to 5mm in a couple places. Three of the four were bent, and then the spare was too!

So, unless I pick up a really cheap set of the same rims (I don't want aftermarket ones) then I think I'm best to get them straightened. What would be a fair price to pay to get each rim straightened without any cosmetic repairs?

I've got a friend who works in a Ford dealership and apparently they are quite bad at it.

I would bin them and get a new set of wheels.

Are we talking about steel rims? If so, check out anywhere where they sell alloy wheels, as very often, people just leave their old steel wheels.

Often scrapyards (as opposed to dismantlers) have wheels - though obviously, they wouldn't be racked or labelled!

When I bought new tyres for our 1999 Accord V6 we discovered one original alloy wheel had a flat spot (pot hole or kerb damage) on the edge of the rim, which must have occurred some time in the past, before we bought the car.
The well where the tyre sat was unaffected but the tyre dealer recommended taking it to an engineering shop where, for $50, it was fixed. I understand you cannot "panelbeat" alloy rims but they can be repaired by spinning them on a lathe and trueing them with a roller pressed against them. The engineer said he had repaired about 1500 rims over the years and also that alloy rims with very low profile tyres don't enjoy long lives.

I had an alloy rim of a Subaru Legacy straightened in Whangarei. $40.

Personally, with that many rims bent & the wreckers saying it's a regular event for that era of vehicle, I would be using stronger aftermarket rims.

You can tease alloy a little, but not a lot.
Modern rims are bending largely due to the massive offsets from rim centers.
Theres a heck of a lot of unsupported alloy on modern wide rims, specially FWD /AWD wide rims

Mate had an XR6 alloy rim done last week, $90 I think.

Had a Mazda3 rim rim done a couple of years ago $120ish

hmm, Sounds like I need to get prices from a few places with the variation in prices. Ideally would get some mint replacement rims if the price is right.

i think ive paid about $65 per wheel for steelies and $120 for alloy straighten and re-face
