Ok use 98 then problem solved. Gull has just had their 10cents off deal, my tank has been filled again, all is good in the world.

What the 3th world? Even 3rd world isn't a thing anymore.

91 octane has been basically unavailable in the EU since euro iv came in in 2004. Makes sense that manfactures targeting that market would start cranking up compression ratios now they no longer need to deal with 91.

Your commment about the third world is clearly wrong. 91 ron is popular in NZ, Aus, USA and Canada.

4 no usa use mon not ron thats 6 to 8 octane lower rated then octane Ron. manufacturer dont make no cars to run on 91 Ron they all are made for 95 or higher . And no 98 from gully i would also not use that, only 98 id use is bp. as its not biocrap.

I have tried 91 and Premium in various cars over the years. No damn difference except the price.

US doesn't use MON. They use RM/2.

Their 87 = our 91.
Their 91 = our 95.
Their 94 = our 98.

I wouldn't bother, he has repeatedly demonstrated that he doesn't understand this concept.

I'm struggling to even parse this.

Anyway plenty of current model vehicles run just fine on our 91 - not all of course.

Regular "gas" makes up about 87% of USA petrol sales. It is sold as 87 (R+M/2), and is equivalent to our 91 (RON).

Manufactures clearly do make engines to run on 91 octane, you can tell by how many cars specify 91 octane as their recommended fuel, or minimum octane rating, and by how they run fine on that fuel.

Perhaps what you are trying to say is that many engines are optimized for running on 95 RON. This is certainty true. Cars like the ford falcon were known to recommend 91 RON fuel, but would retard timing to prevent knock on that octane. As such they would preform better on a dyno with 95 fuel.

Given the use of a UK video, You should be aware that 85% of petrol sold in the EU is an ethanol Mix (either 5%, or 10%).
