I wonder about buying an ev charge lead & get it fitted/adapted with alligator clamps for use at ev charge stations-would that work too?

I think you'll find that an EV charger is a very "intelligent" bit of kit in that it "talks" to vehicles charging system and computer etc, to decide how much charge / how fast etc. If you look at an ev charger lead / connector there are more than just 2 pins. there are various sense / enable signals. also is it 12 / 24volts DC ?
It replaced a 10+ year old 17 amp one, that died when fan eventually seized in it, and it cooked when doing a heavy re-charge.

LOL, no, the fast chargers run at hundreds of volts usually and require a complex protocol to start supplying it. The slow chargers are just mains-level AC supplied through a clever switch, the actual DC charger is inside the car.

No, A EV charge lead is just a fancy box with as good as nothing inside . The charger is inside the Electric car not the wall unit . There is almost nothing more than a caravan mains plug That's about what the EV home wall plugs are. Snap poster #7 lol
