What are your thoughts about 2CheapCars?

I'm thinking of buying a Toyota Fielder from them in New Lynn. Will get a pre inspection check first. What are your thoughts about 2Cheapcars?

There business model is to buy low grade (poor condition) vehicles at auction in japan, patch up cosmetic defects as cheaply as possible. Once the vehicle is sold they do everything they can to avoid incurring cost's under nz consumer laws.

The above operating costs allows them to sell vehicle a little cheaper than their competitors, and hence sell high volumes.

They keep the disputes tribunal busy too. Don't be scared of used car dealers per se. There are honest dealers about that will sell you what you need, not what they want off the lot. What are you looking at? Plenty of knowledge here to help you.

Ha, just seen the other post. As you were.

They do sell alot of cars, if the fielder checks put ok and you are halpy with the price then all good. Good car the fielder. Thats my take
Get a good inspection done then good to go. Once the car goes to most new zealand supermarkets it will get dinged anyway. Park well away from the main entrance. Thats my tip. Good luck.

Make sure it has been fully drained of seawater

Taking a simplistic view if it, some pretty simple market research (that's a fancy term for browsing on here) tells you that what they're selling isnt that cheap. If they have the exact model, colour and kms you are looking for at the price you want to pay, get it pro checked out and dont proceed if theres signs things are not as good as they should be. Not known for good after sales backup.

As above, get a really good PPI and make sure it is the cheapest. I have seen base model Mazda Demios that were only $500 cheaper than the sport model listed at a decent dealer.

as far as i know dont quote me on this they have been in court a few times for breach of fair trading act. the name states it all if you ask me personal opinio. b
Borrowd from comedian cadogan that frase.

There is a real chance you could accidentally get a great car.

intrade, Jun 30, 4:06am

intrade, Jun 30, 4:06am
why dont you go to millars cars and buy a car there at least if it is a dud the salesman will own up to it better to pay more and be save then to chepskate and walk after .

Fixed

I did. by chance, after going to the first dealer near to Millars.:D Almost sold to the idea of Ractis but went to another car yard to test drive a week later as it has a rev cam and cheaper. Got chased out by that dealer when I was sitting there after the test drive, trying to get used to the steering wheel so near to my knees hahaha! He said I need to push back the seat but I had an outstretch arms to the steering wheel. He said he had to drive the car to park and put price sign up. I'm never going there again even though they may have dirt cheap cars.

I should write another post about the good, the bad and the ugly car dealers I had encountered over the last few weeks.

franc123, Jun 30, 8:14am
Please do, the whole process can be hair raising. Don't have to name names.

onlylv, Jul 2, 7:22am
I took my friend to go with me to the car yard this afternoon. He checked the car more thoroughly than I did! He thinks that the car is not in a good condition. Got my $100 deposit back. phew.

I had asked sales rep yesterday for import grade. Was told it was a grade 3 today. Glad I chance upon this link

its going to be hard to explain but you are making progress. haha.
Remember there is no such thing as free.

onlylv, Jul 4, 11:01pm
Thanks! I'm not sure why I am doing more research this time! In my last two purchases (each car lasted 5 years before something happen), I simply went for it.

tamarillo, Jul 4, 11:50pm
To be fair lots of Kiwi cars woudl be grade 3 at trade in time but dealer will fix and touch up and make shiny.
I would be more worried about any major damage, and then what condition is it in now and how well serviced it is.

bwg11, Jul 5, 1:59am
Yes as above, and hearsay only, have been known to advertise "Ghosts" at really sharp prices, but when you arrive to inspect, it has just been sold and you get the hard sell for another which is $500 dearer or done an extra 40k.

intrade, Jul 5, 4:57am
i think that goes under the category marketing wa. k . comedia cadogan has good info on how the slimeballs operate he is only doing new car sellers Not to stand on The X and its always bs-o clock in a dealership.

kazbanz, Jul 15, 4:46am
you are being far too kind at grade 3.
