What are everyone's experiences with these people, more so relating to leaks after the fact

Smith & Smith?. Rust in a Nissan? who would have thought! S & S. Always thought they were the most expensive.

My experience personally has been p@@@ poor. Cheap glass used. Not being able to do the job (chip repair) and leaks in trade in vehicles . I refuse point blank to use them . Prefer by far that blue company no fuss

After the last fiasco I had with them that strung out over 3 months, none of my gear will be going there ever again. The public need to know that their parent company shuffles staff around the world depending on where its needed, you could end up with some Yank who has never worked on an Aussie made car in their life, who isnt aware of key points for a successful install that are only gained through local experience and cocks up the installation of the only brand new screen left available in the country for your car.

i did read at first the place that sells grass. i was thinking what place sells grass for automotive . hmmm i suppose you could sell grass to grow inside the car when water makes it in there after you worked on.

A few years ago they trashed my lovely old classic Audi. Will never use again.

My parents and I have had many windscreens done by them over the years, and never had an issue. Always the same branch in a small town with staff that have been there forever, so maybe thats the difference. Have always followed their "directly after installation" instructions to the letter also.

Very interesting read. Dealing with a vehicle that is leaking into heater box and subsequently onto passenger foot well has only started leaking after the screen replacement. Trying to get them to come to the party and rectify is becoming problematic

kazbanz, Aug 27, 7:02am
frankly that seems atypical experience

l think you are bang on . The experienced guys in small towns are a bit different from the cowboys or inexperienced guys in town

I've had issues with leaks from air conditioning units in cars before and have assumed it was windscreen. First time it was a blocked condensation drainage hose and the second time it was a gasket failure in the cabin air filter unit.

Waited about 3 weeks for them to do a shattered screen and then found I could have had it done the same week by Novus.
They shall not be named cut the windscreen washer tube with the screen remover and never said a word, only found out when I went to wash the screen a couple of weeks later, they also didn't calibrate the new screen properly either it seems.
The insurance company was left in no doubt what we thought of them.

The post i made a few weeks ago re Calibrating a windscreen has been finally resolved with a new screen from Mazda NZ not a cheap ! one .Apparently the insurance company (which used to be NZ but is now Aust owned ) insist on the El Cheapo ones so dont totally blame the fitting company but maybe if they had checked before giving the vehicle back!

They are supposed to be restoring your car back to the condition it was in prior to the damage. If they have fitted a screen that is not merchantable quality or otherwise not fit for purpose it's totally their problem.
