They’ll be a huge range and suggest you go to a VW group specialist smaller private workshop who can tell you exactly and will know how to get parts at right price. Also there’s diesels and petrols so that’s relevant. Usually one would do water pump at same time. If you simply ask local kiwi (jap car) place they might fleece you.

I would strongly suggest getting a price from Giltrap Volkswagon have available your registration number as the different engines will be different prices. If I was making a guess I would say $500 parts (including water pump) and about the same in labour . I'd count on about 4 hours labour Normally I'd recommend a decent VW specialist but in South Auckland the guys I knew pulled the pin a couple of years back
