I've got a Brake fade meter hanging up in my w/shop. Right next to a set of 4 large BWM compression springs, that I now know what they're for. Good Vid BFM

My bad. I just wonder if we follow the US rule of 100k miles of the euro standard replacement at 100 km
I thought with bimmers you had a detachable sleeve complete with preset piston return springs-just slot em in the side of the cylinder and button her up.

bigfatmat1, Jul 15, 4:26am
you know what bimmers are like they are constantly variable spring controlled by electric motor and a upper girdle differential pressure sensor. You need to remove the upper Grammy valve and cylinder head to gain access once in they need to be initiated and calibrated through a scan tool with oem capabilities. The weiner vein shaft may need to be recalibrated if its position has changed otherwise will.operate in limp mode

total rubbish - just another google mechanic You don’t need to touCh the upper Grammy valve and the vein shaft comes pre calibrated from the factory - it’s literally plug and play.

As long as the two spurving bearings are properly lined up with the fan, otherwise you'll never get the side fumbling to a point you can eliminate it.

That's unique to VAGI group product. Noone else requires precise alignment. Now jap product have had self aligning spurving bearings fro nearly 15 years now. Typical of VAGI group to use tech that's totally not required.

lady parts have got nothing to do with it
just pub talk

That is actuarly because they use stone age R&D. because the more tighter emissions the less room for error the more precise the mechanicals haf to work and not have huge deviation and smoke and shel be right like old corollas operate by.
The old way is definetly better for your wallet as if it operates while broken you wont need to fix it like that 1 wire oxigen sensor on the 95 corolla i had thats stuff that fiat used in the early 1980s my punto already has a 4 wire heated lambda of the same age.

kazbanz, Jul 15, 9:47pm
More google mechanics at work Fiat still use hand adjusted spurving bearings which are a nightmare to set up -yet jap product have had self aligning spurving bearings for nearly 15 years now.

intrade, Jul 16, 2:05am
What are you on about i owned both cars and currently drive the 96 punto. i dont google stuff i know stuff and use google to proof what i know .i tricked the toyota ecu witha 1,5 volt battery to go in to closed loop as a test with my scantool as the lambda sesor was long. long dead on that corolla also the fiat is galvanised the uno was the last fiat with no galvanisation.

UMMM-you have been following this thread haven't you mate?

SOOO--how often have you replaced the piston return springs in your punto? Do you use full ISO approved headlight fluid or just a generic brand?

poppy62, Jul 16, 3:29am
I think his $300 torch is a battery short!

bigfatmat1, Jul 16, 4:06am
generic brand rots the plastic and has low luman levels need the aeb: 68891aceb6789-77763099972 spec or higher and cannot mix the two otherwise the light output will be to the left

the problem is that you do need ultra special tools not all is a joke. i do have a rear seal installer tool for Vw for example . so joking about stuff and reality are quite close together these days.
without that tool it wont ever run right as you press on the tone ring in the correct orientation that has the magnetic reluctor gaps
