That is the guy with 250 grand$ us factory scantools in that article i instantly recognised him. starting to read thats pritty much what i got from the automechanika frankfurt bosch training . i recall the bosch guy said what workshop has 10 meter free space available .
we had a mercedes only 6 meter to sortof calibrate and then final roadtest with scanner to finish off camera calibration , from what i recall. The set-up procedure takes a lot of patience and time, but it is critical to follow through with every step. The procedures on this vehicle may not apply to the next year, make or model vehicle you encounter so each job you perform becomes a challenge

something else i recall from training is and they hint at this in the article . if someone bumps the camera doing diy stuff behind the star of the mercedes its out of alignment and wont work right. Do you really think self driving cars will come soon lol. If they do then no one will be able to afford to own and operate one as it be 10 grand a week in service costs it be in the price range or more then a new airbus or Boeing.

Autonomous vehicle driving sensors likely to end up on a vehicle rooftop box that is mega expensive. Watch out for low tree branches or barrier arms or car park height barriers - could be an expensive day.
I would expect machine learning (to drive around growing potholes) and daily real world sensor recalibration and checking. Today's autonomous systems will look dated in 20 years time. like early mechanical petrol injection systems do now.
