Anyone know of a good mechanic/workshop in Christchurch that works with older vehicles e.g. 1959 Austin, mainly suspension bushes, tie rod ends and brake work for warrant.

James won't touch old stuff like the OP has.

Looking at his website, I beg to differ.
But maybe he just likes pictures of old cars.

One of my mother's friends has a drop top Armstrong Siddeley, he didn't want to touch it. Referred her to Finlay IIRC.

Is John Finlay related to a Finlay who had the Bishopdale Caltex(?) garage in the '70's?

Getting mighty hard to find 'real' mechanics these days among all the recently graduated laptop technicians. If you want to indulge in classic car ownership, the best thing you can do is get a workshop manual, a decent set of tools and learn to turn a spanner on it yourself.

I would have thought that any competent mechanic would be able the undertake such work. Nothing special about doing brakes bushes and tie rod ends. Parts availability might be the only difficulty although probably readily available from the UK.
