Interesting - rocker gasket was first thought from a brand mechanic i spoke too.
However we did have a good look over top end of motor, and could not see anything that end.
Google did find one comment for a similar looking leak, which was thought likely a gasket on an oil cooler, somewhere up near manifold, no idea which model engine was being talked about though.
Having such an issue already, certainly has me thinking i bought a lemon, or a Friday built car, so quickly losing faith in keeping it (either) long term as originally intended(hence low km's, as mostly use my other cars for running around).

For what reason? If your car has a legitimate problem it is Holdens responsibility to rectify it. Don't get third party garages involved, warranty issues are simply nothing to do with them.

But the EV loving/ICE hating brigade maintain it was all the ICE motor and Fuel that started the fire.! Post #13 states that both the "Guilty" units were in the front not the centre or rear!

Am talking with a brand agent currently, and an offer of a loan car while being looked at, has been made.
Even better they have offered to do the Holden free service as per schedule, while they have it, so feeling a little better about it now(although still concerned it may first evidence of it being a lemon).

Yes agree, my garage said they could not be involved with warranty work on it. thanks.

Yeah tell me about it. I know the types of people involved, they tend to also believe that there is no oil involved in the manufacture of EV's or their components ether.

Are you sure? I don't believe anyone that uninformed could exist.

The problem with EV is that once the piece of shit catches fire and the insulation starts burning off, look out, it will turn into a really dangerous situation, lots of high voltage and heat, don't think I would be keen to fight that fire except from a distance.

franc123, May 11, 3:24am
Yep they do.

they walk among us

Wait till a Government introduces RUC,s for EV,s so they pay a share of the cost of building/maintaining roads."Nor louder cries to pitying heaven are cast"!

An ICE car caught fire early 2-3am a few mornings ago a block away from my place.
I heard the noise & went outside for a look around, and then heard something like somebody dropping the lid of a metal dumpster/skip bin.
Thinking that that was all it was I turned & then saw the fire light reflection of a nearby house.
Went for a look & it was 1/3rd alight & a few more 'Boomf' s & the Fire brigade & Police' turned up to put it out.
There was probably 5 small explosions, some sounded like spray cans but the first 2 & 4th were bigger. I think the 4th was the carbon cannister under the bonnet.

Not sure if it was intentionally done yet. It was a nice Holden too.

Heh, I've only ever encountered one car on fire, and that was an Audi A4 2.0 on its way down the Rimutaka hill. Nice car, shame the owner hadn't arranged insurance in the 2 weeks they'd owned it.

marte, May 12, 5:06am
Im not sure how the Audi would have caught fire unless there had been modifications done to it.

Cortinas mk4-5 had a brass insert into a zinc carby, get the car running hot on a hot day, then put cold fuel into it & leave it a bit & the cold fuel shrinks the brass tube in the hot zinc & the pressure pushes the tube out over time. Common cause of fire. We were taking about this & how id & a mate had both hammered ours back in, & so, Cortinas, had a bunch of spare parts, so we tested 5 carbys, none were fully in & one nearly fell out.

That Holden? Found out it was probably intentional anyway.

So an extra 7c/km (and probably a lot less as an incentive) will make a little difference to running an EV. Big deal.

And in the meantime ICEs will be paying extra as penance for their CO2 emissions. EVs will still be the better off on both counts.
