Engine fault,Bad bunch of pistons 60 k and stuffed.Wondered why they insisted on heavy type oil a few months ago on a recall. If you got one keep an eye out do a compression test.

What model is it?
I have a 2020 astra rsv (1.6t) and spark Lt (1.4 na), almost got a trax instead of the spark, so wondering if the 1.4t trax model, is the same engine with a turbo?

you want to nuke it fast run it on 91 catpiss they from what i sortof think should only be operated at 98 BP and there is a special additive Gm said must be added to the oil to make it better then any oil you can buy . nothing to do with more heavy oil.

Yes additive what ever, its been running on it.Still stuffed. This what the recall was about to make sure all the cars were running with the additive.Well it didnt work. There is a manufacturing fault with the pistons,no amount of additive is gunna fix that.

Anyone know if the spark is also required to use an additive, or if it is a completely different engine? (both seem to be made in south Korea). Mine only has 6k km's on it so far, so if its a good idea to use something, its early enough to be of benefit. No idea if they will on the free 3 year servicing, and one is due soon, (but wondering if using a Morey's additive myself, may be a good idea).

Certainly covering there tracks (trax) by recomending an additive be used in a fairly new car.

Absolutely Unbelievable in 2020 or are we still in 1920?Sounds like a "good" buy(bye) second hand.!

Demand a brand new engine out of them and then sell the thing as quick as you can, GM Holden are well and truly aware of the problem and what causes it. The use of oil additives is simply a tool to be used to hopefully delay things until they're out of warranty (yes I know about the CGA with respect to significant problems outside statutory warranties). They're well known for this sort of behaviour trying to cover up their own poor manufacturing and quality control. Why do you think the brand is stuffed.

Its GM involved here, it's totally believable. In a sane world the whole outfit should have gone properly broke 12 years ago like it would have naturally and auto making would have been left to outfits that know what they are doing.

Heard recently about two lowish km Colorados that needed new auto gearboxes under warrantly. Cars were only a couple of years old!
