Covering up fake looking interior wood

My first thought is to get a spray can of color match paint and spray it out. You don't have to be super careful with masking if it matches the rest of the dash. Its actually often easier to pop stuff like radio/ac controls out than it is to mask.Or with some parts easier to pop them out.
You may also find that the fake wood isn't factory or is a pop off veneer.
have a look at a 2014 Toyota Spade for sale at some car yard.-There was a 150-200mm strip of bright orange on the dash of that one.

Ideally find the same car being wrecked without the wood trim. Swap it over.

Failing that see if those seven pieces are removable and try and cover them somehow.

Is this for the "What would the black taree shite be ? " crap box you were thinking of buying? Fake Wood, "taree' exhausts, Square wheels. Sounds like a peasants Dray. I reckon it's your ideal D21 replacement. Oh! and a Happy New year to you.

Always a sparky Mals, my late father was as well. His garage was full of useful stuff he used to tell me. We had to have three goes cleaning it out to make it useful after he passed away.

mals-AS long as its not in wear areas then paint will work fine. That's all a lot of the colors on the plastic parts are anyway

Could have done plasticote over it for a matt look but depends how much I guess

I guess the sales guys were telling the truth then. -We are getting that a lot with popular product we just can't get our hands on.

You're getting good at dodging bullets.

You should, then you and pops can bond over fixing it.

Be careful, modern veneer might be genuine but look fake. An opinionated person laughed at my Jag veneer and reckoned it was fake. In the last 20 years they glue the wood veneer on to cast aluminium, and it doesn't crack any more.
